Senior Week
Thanks to all who "liked" and shared our social media posts recognizing our Crew Seniors during crew senior week! GV Crew is looking forward to celebrating their hard work and dedication to crew at the End-of-Season Picnic.
Graduation Yard Signs
One last thanks to all who purchased yard signs. It's great seeing them all around the "valley"! The seniors helped distribute signs to get them out quickly. And a standing ovation for DeeDee Cofiell for spearheading the yard sign fundraiser this year.
End-of-Season Picnic - Tentative Date: Wednesday, June 24, 4-8pm
Plans are in the works to have an end-of-year gathering at Battle of the Clouds Park on Wednesday, June 24, 4-8pm. The pavilion has been reserved. This is a tentative date due to the restrictions on parks and gatherings while in the yellow phase. It is our hope that we will enter the green phase by that date and can have a small gathering using social distancing precautions. If not, we will look at a postponed, later date.
Our end of season party usually allows for the rowers to socialize one last time, parents to catch up, and for coaches and teammates to recognize our seniors and send them off in style. Refreshments will be provided. More information will follow as the date gets closer. In the meantime, let's hope for a "flat curve" and a safe loosening of restrictions.
Fall Registration NOW OPEN - New Process
Fall Registration will be handled differently this year due to the uncertain nature of the Fall Crew season.

Great Valley Crew PRE-REGISTRATION is now open.

No payments are due with Pre-Registration. This allows coaches to see who is planning to row in the fall without the organization collecting fees up front. Registration Fee of $800 will be collected at a later date when we can confirm when and how the season will start.

Pre-Registration is open until August 9th, 2020. First Practice is scheduled for Monday, August 17, 2020.
Fall Crew 2020
  • No experience necessary to row with GV Crew! Most rowers start in high school so it's a great sport for trying something new.
  • Boys & Girls Grades 8-12 can join GV Crew. Note: 8th graders can train and practice, but are not eligible to compete in the regattas.
  • There is NO TRANSPORTATION provided to practices or to our regattas in Philly, NJ and DEL. There is a voluntary parent-led carpool for those that want to participate.
  • We practice out of the John S. Trinsey Jr. Memorial Boathouse in Bridgeport on the Schuylkill River, approximately 20 minutes from GVHS. (see directions below)
  • Practices begin on Monday, August 17, 2020.
  • PRACTICES are MONDAY-WEDNESDAY-FRIDAY 3:30-6:15pm and SATURDAYS from 10am to 1pm.
  • PLEASE NOTE:  This is a competitive rowing team, we need your full commitment to all practices and regattas. We need the whole team at every practice to ensure we can get on the water ever day the weather conditions allow. One rower missing practice often means an entire boat has to stay on-land.

Boathouse Information
Starting with the Fall season 2020, Great Valley Crew will be rowing out of the John S. Trinsey Jr. Memorial Boathouse which is also home to the Upper Merion Rowing Association.

Many thanks to Marcy Schell for her work in making this happen! The move will cut our travel time to practices in half. The boathouse is also fully equipped with 24 ergs and is part of the Upper Merion John S. Trinsey Jr. Memorial Boathouse Township Park.

The boathouse is located on the Schuylkill River in Bridgeport, just past the King of Prussia Mall. Directions are below in case you want to drive up and check it out.

GVBL Update
Returning soon - GVBL Basketball!!!!!?

We hope that everyone is doing well during these difficult times. As we have previously shared, we will no longer be playing basketball at the GVBL Center. However, lots of planning is going on behind the scenes for the return of GVBL Basketball at other locations, while we await the building of our New GVCO Center.

While we are uncertain of when we will be allowed to resume operations, we have begun planning for our winter season, while also researching options for an abbreviated summer/ fall schedule. Our tournament teams are getting ready to resume and we are lining up clinicians and trainers to run clinics.

Once it is safe for basketball to return, GVBL will be ready to offer basketball options for the Great Valley community.

Until then, tell your kids to keep practicing!

GVCO Project Updates
Jun 8 2020:
Out With The Old...

In mid May GVCO began the demolition of the GVBL Center, a space we have leased and created many great memories since 2005. Unfortunately with the pandemic and the evolving rules and guidelines, the GVBL Center is no longer a healthy and safe viable option for our programming (see recent  Restore Chester County guidelines  as we move forward towards the "Green Phase").

Fortunately we have made tremendous progress towards our goal of providing a new GVCO Community Center as preliminary site work has begun at the Bacton Hill site. Additional funding is still necessary to secure the final bank financing to raise the building and open the doors.

GVCO will be renewing our efforts with our capital campaign following the hiatus due to pandemic. A final push towards our goal will be rolled out in the coming weeks and months. The hope is to get a much greater degree of participation from the entire community (see current donor list ).

Want a brand new GVCO Community Center with multiple courts, an outdoor field, a cafe, an elevated track and work out area, as well as multi-purpose rooms for other community programming, activities and events?

We have purchased the land, the property is fully engineered and the approval process is complete. The time is NOW....Help us make it happen!
