From Coach Emily: Navy Day Regatta
Hi all! This past weekend we raced on Saturday afternoon at the Schuylkill for the Navy Day regatta. Considerably smaller than Head of the Schuylkill, Navy Day gives us a nice stepping stone to once again check out how we stack up against competition.
Our boys varsity 4+ finished 13th out of 33, managing to have faster times than some boats who beat them at Head of the Christina. This trajectory is exactly what we want to see and gives us a great baseline moving into a bit more training time before traveling to Philly once again for Head of the Schuylkill.
Ava was able to get out in the single only 1.5 practices prior to Navy Day, but handled Saturday very well. Considering the short amount of time, she got back into the swing of things impressively and was able to take a lot away from her race on Saturday. Both Ava and the coaching staff are looking forward to Head of the Schuylkill to have a better idea of how she stacks up with more practice time under her belt.
It’s always so great to see everyone down at the river and to see the support across the board. I hope everyone who attended enjoyed Saturday’s racing and excellent weather! As always, thank you to all the supporters for everything you do!
