There are a lot of new items this week, please scroll all the way through.
All rowers & families (Spring too!):
Please take special note of our upcoming fundraisers and participate!
Slade Crane
Slade is a Varsity senior rower for GV Crew. Outside of rowing, he enjoys skiing and watching football. Right now, he is undecided on his plans after high school. When it comes to rowing for Great Valley Crew, Slade most enjoys giving it his all and staying in time, especially to songs like "Sumo". He likes that rowing is unique and has inspired him to work hard. For new rowers he has this advice: "Always power through, you'll always feel better in the end."
From Coach Emily: Navy Day Regatta
Hi all! This past weekend we raced on Saturday afternoon at the Schuylkill for the Navy Day regatta. Considerably smaller than Head of the Schuylkill, Navy Day gives us a nice stepping stone to once again check out how we stack up against competition.
Our boys varsity 4+ finished 13th out of 33, managing to have faster times than some boats who beat them at Head of the Christina. This trajectory is exactly what we want to see and gives us a great baseline moving into a bit more training time before traveling to Philly once again for Head of the Schuylkill.
Ava was able to get out in the single only 1.5 practices prior to Navy Day, but handled Saturday very well. Considering the short amount of time, she got back into the swing of things impressively and was able to take a lot away from her race on Saturday. Both Ava and the coaching staff are looking forward to Head of the Schuylkill to have a better idea of how she stacks up with more practice time under her belt.
It’s always so great to see everyone down at the river and to see the support across the board. I hope everyone who attended enjoyed Saturday’s racing and excellent weather! As always, thank you to all the supporters for everything you do!

The Blue Jean Ball is quickly approaching! Mark your calendars for  Saturday, November 16th.  This fundraiser is critical to our ability to have a crew program and keep your kids rowing.
Full participation  is expected, and for it to be a successful event, we’re asking each family to bring a minimum of  two additional  couples.
You can count on great  auction items, yummy food, an open bar, live music , and lots of fun people. So grab your friends and let’s make this the best event of the fall season!
Buy your tickets here and share the link: www.gvco.org/crew-blue
We will also need donations for the auction/raffle.
