Crew Family Picnic This SATURDAY!
Let's get together! The weather looks like it's going to cooperate so the Crew Family Picnic is a go for this Saturday, October 24 at the WYRA Boathouse. Bring the kids to practice, but don't forget your chairs, masks & cameras. We'll be grilling and we'll spread out and set up our chairs by the dock to watch the kids row. They have been improving every day!

Rowers: Wear you crew gear or blue & white to show your GV Crew spirit. We will also have some spirit wear available for purchase at the picnic.

See you there!

Alternative PE Applications for Spring
9-12 Grade GV Rowers - If you will be rowing in the spring, you can submit an Alternative PE Application with Great Valley HS.

For the Crew contact use John Brewer at gvcrewpd@gmail.com and he will sign off on it.

Here is the info from the recent district email:

Hello Great Valley Students and Families,
The purpose of this message is to inform you that the application for Alternative Physical Education (form A) for the spring of 2021 is now available for completion and submission. To streamline the process of applying, we have moved the entire application to an online format. Please note, you will no longer find a PDF version of form A on our website. Moving forward, all applications will be completed using the online format and a link to access the application will be provided at the bottom of this message. Finally, although directions for completing the application are provided in the form, the following are some tips to help you with a smooth application process:
  • CLICK HERE FOR A VIDEO TUTORIAL ON THE APPLICATION PROCESS
  • An email receipt, with a timestamp, will be given upon successful submission of the application. Please keep this for your records.
  • Students participating in "GVSD-sponsored activities" (that is, marching band, varsity and junior varsity athletics associated with Great Valley high school) DO NOT need to obtain a supervisor's signature on this form.
  • Students participating in "Non GVSD-sponsored activities" will need to obtain a supervisor's signature. The application will be INCOMPLETE until all signatures have been acquired. This must be done by the application deadline.
  • PLEASE ensure the spelling of all email addresses is correct as this will be the primary means of correspondence and confirmation.
  • For your convenience, the application will be posted on the 'Forms' page of the Great Valley high school website (through November 15th) and you can access it by clicking here
The application will remain open through the end of the day (3:15 p.m.) on November 15th. After November 15th, the application will be deactivated and inaccessible. Should you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Mr. Dustin Kasper, health and physical education department chair at dkasper@gvsd.org.
Thank you for your support of the Great Valley high school.

Preparing to get on the water...
As the weather turns cooler and the rowers get on the water, here are a few tips to prepare for practices:
  • Wear a few tight layers
  • No large, loose garments that may get caught in moving parts
  • Bring thick, warm socks (plus a dry pair for the ride home)
  • Bring a reusable water bottle
  • Sunscreen and sunglasses for sunny days
  • Tight fitting hat or headband that covers the ears for colder days
Volunteers
As you may know, we need "all hands on deck" to keep GV Crew "afloat".

All puns aside, please consider where you may be able to help. Below is a list of volunteers. Though the bigger roles are filled (Yay!), we will still need all families to contribute from time to time.
