Dear GVA Middle School Families & Community,
What a wonderful semester we’ve shared! As we turn the page to December, I am filled with gratitude and excitement for all we have accomplished together so far and for the promise ahead.
Our recent National Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony and annual Teachers vs. Students Volleyball Game were powerful reminders of the excellence, spirit, and unity that define GVA Aurora. With 29 new NJHS inductees, we proudly celebrated the academic achievement, leadership, and character of our middle school scholars.
We also built community and school spirit through our exciting volleyball game, where students and teachers came together for a fun, high-energy event that showcased teamwork, sportsmanship, and joy.
Together, these moments highlight the strong academic growth, student success, and vibrant community that continue to make GVA Aurora a place where learning, leadership, and belonging thrive.
As we move into December, we’ll carry forward this momentum by focusing on rigorous instruction, meaningful relationships, and joyful learning, all while celebrating the holiday season and planning for a successful second half of the year.

Queridas Familias y Comunidad de la Escuela Secundaria de GVA,
Al comenzar diciembre, quiero expresar mi agradecimiento por el arduo trabajo, la positividad y el apoyo que brindan a nuestra escuela cada día. Este semestre ha estado lleno de aprendizajes increíbles, celebraciones significativas y una gran participación de nuestra comunidad.
Nuestras recientes Ceremonia de Inducción de la Sociedad Nacional de Honor Junior (NJHS) y el partido anual de vóleibol Maestros vs. Estudiantes fueron recordatorios poderosos de la excelencia, el espíritu y la unidad que caracterizan a GVA Aurora. También fortalecimos la comunidad y el espíritu escolar a través de nuestro emocionante juego de vóleibol, donde estudiantes y maestros se unieron en un evento lleno de energía que destacó el trabajo en equipo, la deportividad y la alegría.

Teachers vs. Students Volleyball Game
On November 20th, we held our annual Teachers vs. Students Volleyball Game, and the energy in the gym was incredible!
The stands were packed with cheering classmates, teachers, and families as both teams brought their best spirit, teamwork, and competitive fire.
The students came ready to play, and the teachers matched them point for point, making it one of our most exciting games yet. From dramatic rallies to big celebrations, the entire event was filled with school pride, laughter, and unforgettable moments.

Partido Anual de Voleibol: Maestros vs. Estudiantes
El 20 de noviembre realizamos nuestro Partido Anual de Voleibol: Maestros vs. Estudiantes, ¡y la energía en el gimnasio fue increíble!
Las gradas estuvieron llenas de compañeros, maestros y familias animando mientras ambos equipos demostraron espíritu, trabajo en equipo y una competencia llena de emoción.
Los estudiantes llegaron listos para ganar, y los maestros respondieron punto por punto, convirtiendo este evento en uno de los juegos más emocionantes del año.
Entre jugadas dramáticas, celebraciones y mucha alegría, fue un momento lleno de orgullo escolar y diversión para todos.

Blizzard Ball – December 12th
We are excited to invite all 6th–8th grade students to our Blizzard Ball on Friday, December 12th from 5:00–6:45 PM.
This special winter formal gives students a fun and festive opportunity to celebrate with music, dancing, and friends.
Permission slips were sent home before Thanksgiving Break, and additional copies are available at the front desk. Students must return a signed form when purchasing their tickets.
- Tickets bought during lunch are $10.
- Tickets at the door will be $15.
Please note that students must be passing all classes and have demonstrated positive behavior throughout Quarter 2 in order to attend.
We can’t wait to see everyone at the Blizzard Ball!

Baile Blizzard – 12 de diciembre
¡Estamos muy emocionados de invitar a todos los estudiantes de 6.º a 8.º grado a nuestro Blizzard Ball el viernes 12 de diciembre de 5:00 a 6:45 p. m.!
Este baile formal de invierno ofrece a los estudiantes una oportunidad divertida y festiva para celebrar con música, baile y amigos.
Los permisos fueron enviados a casa antes de las vacaciones de Acción de Gracias, y hay copias adicionales disponibles en la recepción. Los estudiantes deben entregar un formulario firmado al momento de comprar sus boletos.

Please be sure students are arriving on time.
- Breakfast is only available through 7:55 AM.
- Any student arriving after 8:00 AM must enter through the front doors.

Winter Weather Reminder
As temperatures drop, please remember that all students are required to go outside for recess as long as conditions fall within our weather guidelines.
To help ensure students stay safe and comfortable, please make sure they come to school dressed appropriately for winter weather, including coats, hats, gloves, and any other warm layers they may need.
Thank you for helping us keep students prepared and ready to enjoy their outdoor time safely.
Weather Closures & Delayed Start – Brief Overview
GVA Aurora follows Aurora Public Schools for weather closures and delayed starts. If there is a closure or delay, families will be notified through:
- Local TV and radio
- The GVA Aurora website
- Staff email
- Facebook, Instagram, Edlio App
- Infinite Campus robocalls
GVA Aurora may also make its own weather-related decisions if needed to keep our community safe. Please ensure your contact information is up to date.
Delayed Start:
If APS announces a delayed start, school will begin at 10:00 AM. Regular dismissal times remain the same. Before/after-school care families should contact Innovation Learning for updates.

Eagle Club
The Eagle Club is a program designed to provide academic and behavioral support to our students. Student participation is determined through assignments made by their teachers or administrators. This initiative takes a proactive approach to assist students who may encounter challenges in making positive choices for our 6-8 grade students.
