Dragon reading a book and children reading and magical elements all around the background

Hello Global Village Academy Families,

We are thrilled to kick off our Read4Funds fundraiser! This is a big fundraiser for our school, and we need your help to make it a success. The money raised through this fundraiser will help improve our educational resources and directly support international travel experiences for our middle school students, creating meaningful, real-world learning opportunities for our Dragons.

We are asking each student to set a fundraising minimum goal of at least $50 so we can reach our all-school goal of $12,500.

What Is Read4Funds and How Does It Work?

Read4Funds is an exciting and meaningful school fundraiser that inspires students to read and rewards them for their efforts.

  • All students will read as much as possible over 2 weeks, entering minutes daily.
  • Most students will read at least 200 minutes during the fundraiser.
  • There will be one exciting in-school Snuggle Up and Read day.
  • Using our online donations portal, students (with parent help) will ask for donations from family, friends, etc.
  • Students will earn prizes for reading and donations raised.
  • Our school will earn money!

What Can I Do Now to Get Started?

1. Tour our school fundraising website and familiarize yourself with the donations portal, the reading minutes tracker, the prizes, and more.

2. Talk to your student(s) about the fundraiser. Ensure they have a few good books they are excited to read/read with you (for younger kids). Consider a trip to the library if needed.

3. Set a daily reading goal with your student(s) and help them reach it! We recommend at least 20 minutes of reading per day.

4. Get ready for the fundraiser to Kick-Off! Starting the day of our assembly:

  • Student(s) can start entering reading minutes online using our online reading log. Parents, please help younger students enter their reading!
  • Parents/student(s) can send donation request emails to potential donors using our pre-filled email template. We recommend sending at least 10 donation request emails per student. Send to family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc.
  • Many donations are eligible for Employee Company Match Programs. Don’t forget to ask your employer and easily double your donation!
