GVA North Families,
I hope everyone enjoyed âfalling backâ this weekend and got an extra hour of rest! For those who celebrate Halloween, I hope you had a fun evening trick-or-treating with family and friends. Also, to all who celebrate DĂa de los Muertos, I hope it was a beautiful day of remembrance and celebration for your loved ones.

Taste of Hispanic Culture Celebration
This past Saturdayâs Taste of Hispanic Culture event was great! The energy, music, and food made it such a joyful celebration of the many cultures that make up our Spanish Village at GVA North. The mariachi performance was incredible and the crafts and games were enjoyed by all.
A heartfelt thank you to our GVA North Events Committee and all the staff, students, and families who helped bring this event to life. Your hard work and enthusiasm continue to make our school community shine!

GVA North Food Drive & Weekend Food Boxes
As you may have heard, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) has been paused due to the federal government shutdown. This has created challenges for some of our GVA North families. Currently, 121 of our families rely on SNAP support. So, our school has launched a temporary Weekend Food Box Program to provide non-perishable and perishable (non-refrigerated) food items to some families in need. Our first round of food boxes was distributed last Friday, and we hope to continue this effort for as long as needed.
As a community, we are hoping to come together to help, so we are beginning a Food Drive to collect items for our Weekend Food Boxes that will be distributed to our families in need.
If any families are able and looking to help support the cause, we are accepting non-perishable and perishable (non-refrigerated) food donations in the front lobby.
Here are some suggested items:
- Canned goods (soup, vegetables, beans, tuna, etc.)
- Boxed meals (mac & cheese, pasta, rice, etc.)
- Bread and tortillas
- Peanut butter and jelly
- Fresh fruits like apples, oranges, or bananas
- Snack items (granola bars, crackers, etc.)
If youâd like to volunteer to help organize and sort the Weekend Food Boxes, weâd love your support! Volunteers will help prepare boxes on Thursdays, you can sign up here.
Every donation and helping hand makes a difference! Thank you in advance for supporting our families during this time.
