Art with Ms. Batka

In Art class this quarter, all students are learning about artist Frida Kahlo, the art skill “expression”, and how to use watercolor paint by completing a self-portrait of their own.

The self-portraits will be on display at the art shows/music concerts on November 19th (K-2) and December 17th (3-5).

En la clase de Arte de este trimestre, todos los estudiantes aprenderán sobre la artista Frida Kahlo, la expresión artística y cómo usar la acuarela creando su propio autorretrato.

Los autorretratos se exhibirán en las exposiciones de arte y conciertos del 19 de noviembre (K-2) y el 17 de diciembre (3-5).

This quarter, the 2nd and 4th grades are beginning to work on their music for their concerts.

The 2nd Grade’s concert, “Food, Glorious Food!” will be on Nov. 19th at 6 pm.

• Check with your classroom teacher to see where you can access the Practice Slides to practice at home!
• Students are not required to practice at home, but they can if they want. 

The 4th Grade’s program, “Storyteller”, will be on Dec. 10th at 6 pm.

• Practice Slides for this concert are not out yet, but will be soon!

Este trimestre, 2.º y 4.º grado están comenzando a trabajar en la música para su concierto.

El concierto de 2.º grado, “¡Comida, Gloriosa Comida!”, será el 19 de noviembre a las 6:00 p.m.

• Revise con el maestro de su salón dónde puede acceder a las Diapositivas de Práctica para ensayar en casa.
• No se requiere que los estudiantes practiquen en casa, pero pueden hacerlo si lo desean.

El programa de 4.º grado, “Narrador de Historias”, será el 10 de diciembre a las 6:00 p.m.

• Las Diapositivas de Práctica para este concierto aún no están disponibles, ¡pero lo estarán pronto!

Physical Education with Coach Langley

This quarter, in all of our classes, we are learning our routines and getting experience with the rock wall. 

K-1 will be working on shoe tying, along with learning new exercises.

Grades 2-5 will start to use heart monitors as part of the class again this year.

Este trimestre en todas nuestras clases estamos aprendiendo nuestras rutinas y adquiriendo experiencia con el rockwall. 

K-1 trabajará en cómo atarse los zapatos y aprenderá nuevos ejercicios.

Los grados 2-5 comenzarán a usar monitores cardíacos como parte de la clase nuevamente este año.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) with Ms. Liz

This first quarter of school we focused on learning routines, reasons for rules, identifying new emotional vocabulary, recognizing bullying, and skills for becoming a good listener.

This quarter, K-5 students are learning about being a good digital citizen, staying safe online, and taking ownership and responsibility for computers.

They are also practicing typing speed goals using the website typing.com

Este trimestre, los estudiantes de Kínder a 5.º grado están aprendiendo sobre cómo ser un buen ciudadano digital, mantenerse seguros en línea y asumir la responsabilidad en el uso de las computadoras.

También están practicando sus metas de velocidad al escribir.
