GVBL Tournament Teams
Hive/5th Girls - Storm/7th Girls - Knights/7th Boys
The Great Valley Hive opened their 2021 season with an ICBA King of the Court championship!
The girls went 4-0 in the tournament giving up 8 points per game in the first three contests and defeating a tough team from Hatboro 35-24 in the final game at Charger Nation. Their strong performance earned them a spot at the State Championship Tournament at Penn State University in March.
The girls lead with their relentless defense and selfless passing. The Hive will continue to play in both the ICBA and the Malvern Leagues this winter. Congrats to all of the Hive girls on a great tourney!
The Storm captured the ICBA Division 2 King of the Court Tournament Championship.
The Storm went down 9-2 early, but in typical Storm fashion did not panic. The team clawed back to a 13-12 lead at halftime and while it was back and forth most of the second half, they were in control with about 3 minutes to go, winning 39-32. Second half free throws were a key for the victory. The Storm also played a Malvern League game on Sunday and lost 34-23 to a solid Warriors team.

Donation Drive for Household Items
GVCO is thankful for our community and we hope that you will reach out to those less fortunate. For Giving Tuesday, we are partnering with Home of the Sparrow and their Winter White Out Donation Drive.
Did you know that government assistance does not cover necessary household items? For women and mothers who are facing homelessness, the cost of essential household items can be insurmountable. Please join us in creating a #WinterWhiteOut and help us collect the following items:
- Wawa gift cards (for fuel)
- Bleach
- Cleaning products
- Laundry detergent
- Paper towels
- Unscented trash bags

GVCO Community Partnership
Philadelphia is the nation's poorest big city with nearly 300,000 children living in poverty across the region. Cradles 2 Crayons Philadelphia has a reach that goes well beyond the borders of the city itself.
Chester County, including the Malvern area, is included in the region in which C2C is having an impact. GVCO is once again partnering with C2C, hosting our 3rd Annual Donation Drive. Reaching out to our Great Valley community in an effort to help those right here in our area.
Part of C2C's mission: "Our whole focus is to make our collaborative process as easy and streamlined as possible. This helps us to empower the children we serve collaboratively — at home, at school, and at play — by providing the everyday essentials that match their individual needs." GVCO's reach here in the community, coupled with C2C's ability to reach those in need is the perfect partnership for our GVCO Caring Hands foundation.
Childhood poverty is a serious nationwide issue and the local area is not immune. Without adequate and appropriate clothing, children face unfair barriers and participate in life on an unequal playing field. Cradles to Crayons uses the term “Clothing Insecurity” as part of our efforts to formally recognize the issue, and increase awareness on this hidden basic need.
GVCO is proud to be partnering with such a worthy organization in helpng C2C reach its inspiring mission and goals.

In the summer of 2019, the Narayanan/Tan family embarked on the 7th household move, starting with our first all the way from California in 2000. That’s a lot of relocations in our lives, many of which were emotional and mental roller-coasters. We said goodbye to old friends and eventually, hello to new ones. As we look back, there’s always been at least one family in each city, which we’ll always cherish and keep in touch with.
The move to the Great Valley area was probably the most challenging. We arrived and tried to settle quickly, not knowing the world was about to change in just a few months. Our daughters participated in GV Crew and Soccer, which in some small way, made things normal for us as quickly as we had hoped. We thank everyone who’s welcomed us here, and giving back is just one small way we’re able to show our appreciation to this wonderful community. As an employee of a large company with a strong community presence in the area, a great way for some of us to contribute to GVCO is through the company matching gift program.”
