January 26, 2021

While we continue to play our GVBL Winter rec league games, albeit with much fewer games due to a lack of gym space in January, our GVBL Tournament Teams have gotten organized and begun their seasons. This year our GVBL Tournament Team program boasts 10 girls and boys teams. The 120+ players that make up these teams are required to be GVSD residents, and must participate in our GVBL rec league program to be eligible. Each of these teams play in travel/AAU leagues and tournaments, with some teams playing year round. Most of the teams play at a higher level of competition and historically are very successful. Each team is run by a group of volunteer coaches, playing in both local and regional events.
The purpose of the program is to create a "feeder program" for our GVHS girls and boys teams. Both coaching staffs at the GVHS have been working with these groups for many years as the kids gradually transition into the high school programs. As these GVBL Tournament Teams move into 2021 with their seasons, we will begin to highlight some of their progress/ Read more about our Tournament Team program. Siddhant Suresh Scholarship Fund

This scholarship fund was created to honor the memory of Siddhant Suresh, a wonderful son and brother, beloved community member and an outstanding student who loved basketball and chess. Siddhant was a GVBL tournament team and recreation league player, who enjoyed the sport and played it with great team spirit and enthusiasm.

As a selfless player on the basketball court, and a true, caring friend off the court, Siddhant epitomizes the values on which our Great Valley Community organization is built…family, friends and community. This scholarship is designed to help others who may need assistance, giving them the opportunity to participate in GVCO programming.

GVCO Project Update
If you have passed by the new GVCO Community Center site on Bacton Hill Rd, you have begun to see the transformation of the property.

We built a storage shed, began fencing in the property and opened the practice field in the back of the site. Our GVFL football and GV Cheer groups both held programming at the site this fall.

We have also held a number of community and fundraising events throughout the fall. And you may have seen a good bit of equipment being relocated as we begin to mobilize for future site work at the facility.
