January lull and February snow…Playoffs begin to come into focus

Because of the general lack of gym space in January games have been somewhat more sporadic. However as we start the month of February the schedule will begin to pick up again. By mid-February we get deeper in to the second half of the season and playoff seedings will begin to take shape. Presidents Day weekend will see full sets of games across all divisions and the high school division will begin their playoffs. Look for the rec league playoffs to begin the week of February 15th.

The playoff brackets will be released in the next week to ten days. As always, please go to the GVBL app to access each division’s standings.

As of January 31st below are the Boys HS division leading scorers:

Siddhant Suresh Scholarship Fund

This scholarship fund was created to honor the memory of Siddhant Suresh, a wonderful son and brother, beloved community member and an outstanding student who loved basketball and chess. Siddhant was a GVBL tournament team and recreation league player, who enjoyed the sport and played it with great team spirit and enthusiasm.

As a selfless player on the basketball court, and a true, caring friend off the court, Siddhant epitomizes the values on which our Great Valley Community organization is built…family, friends and community. This scholarship is designed to help others who may need assistance, giving them the opportunity to participate in GVCO programming.

GVCO Project Update
If you have passed by the new GVCO Community Center site on Bacton Hill Rd, you have begun to see the transformation of the property.

We built a storage shed, began fencing in the property and opened the practice field in the back of the site. Our GVFL football and GV Cheer groups both held programming at the site this fall.

We have also held a number of community and fundraising events throughout the fall. And you may have seen a good bit of equipment being relocated as we begin to mobilize for future site work at the facility.
