Volunteers Continue to be the Cornerstone of How We Run Our GVBL Basketball Programs

Thank You to All of our Volunteer Coaches!

A special thanks to all the parents who graciously volunteered their time to coach in the GVBL Summer Rec League. Our GVBL league would not exist without our dedicated Summer and Winter League volunteers.

Our GVBL leagues are built as community programs where friends and neighbors coach the kids. As you probably have witnessed, especially in our summer league, just being on the bench and encouraging the kids is often all that is needed. Giving your time provides the kids in our community an opportunity to have a safe, fun and friendly environment, while learning how to play the game of basketball.

Thank you to all of the volunteers who help coach our teams this summer. Please take the time to walk over and say "thank you" next time you're out at the courts watching your child play.

As always, we hope to see all of the volunteers back on the sidelines for our GVBL winter rec league.

Matt's Courtside Report

Playoffs are now approaching and the league is really starting to heat up now that the standing have officially been posted on the GVBL app. At the top of the Boys 3rd/4th grade division, we have some incredible teams like the Tigers, Sharks and Jayhawks. These are all teams that I have talked about, but it is pretty hard not to talk about this Sharks team especially after their thriller of a game on Tuesday. This is a team where it seems like you can put the ball in any of their hands and they will score. Frederick Arthur has been one of the main reasons for this teams success leading them to a 6-1 record so far. His incredible defense has helped propel this team to the top of the division. I don’t think I have ever seen his man with the ball in their hand. He reminds me of a young Shaquille O’Neal when he played for the Lakers.

In the Girls 5th/6th grade division, the Fever didn’t just get off to a hot start they have literally been unstoppable posting an undefeated season so far. This team has been really fun to watch. Ruhanni Sandhu has been on a roll these past couple of weeks and she can really do it all. She makes me wish we could keep individual statistics because her points and rebounds percentage would be similar to a young Wilt Chamberlain.

In the boys 7th/8th grade division, we have the Celtics and Cavaliers on the top both only posting two losses. Both of these teams are having monster seasons and I am excited to see these two teams play down the road. Will the Celtics come up with an answer for Taso’s unstoppable offense or will they fall like the rest of league?

Project Update

Last week, the contractors installed the large garage door at the far end of the facility. This feature will lead to greater versatility at the complex.

We imagine the garage door being open during "good" weather for larger events utilizing both indoor and outdoor space. Think booster club functions, community gatherings/celebrations or fundraising events. In addition, this is envisioned to be ideal for things like our youth summer camps that were held for many years at our old GVBL Center. More construction pictures and news

Financing the New GVCO Community Center

It's time for everyone in our Great Valley community to GIVE BACK. The community's support over the past six years has been tremendous [Donor List]. Let's finish what we started, paying off the debt and moving forward with the next phase of the project. To do this, the support must continue and be more broad based.

We are asking for help from the entire Great Valley private, public and business community.

Ways You can Give

For further details on the project, how you can make a significant financial impact or information with regard to Naming Rights for the complex and areas throughout the project, please reach out to Keith Walsh at execdirector@gvco.org
