2023-2024 GV Tournament Team Tryouts

Tournament Teams are for players who want to play at a more highly competitive level. Players must be residents of Great Valley School District. Please see our GV Tournament Team Policies & Procedures on the Tournament Team section of the GVCO.org website.

To be eligible, players must also register and play in our GVBL Winter Recreational League. Registration for our GVBL Winter Rec League opens Sept. 15th.

See below for the tryouts schedule. Every player planning on participating on a GV Tournament Team will need to register for tryouts. There is a $15 fee per player to cover administrative and facility costs.

Gen. Wayne Elementary is located at 20 Devon Rd., Malvern.

What Did your GV Tournament Team do this Summer??

The 7th Grade Boys "29ers" had a hoops-filled summer!

Many players attended the Hard Hat Basketball Academy at Malvern Prep and "Camp Savage" at GVHS. The players had a great time competing against each other in GV rec games and with each other in Malvern League games. The team and their families celebrated their third year together at a fun pool party at the Willey's, where seven players accepted a team-initiated (and parent approved) challenge to buzz their long locks! The 29ers can't wait to start again in the fall!

K-2 Flag Football

NEW:

Teams will be rostered by GV school and grade

Our GVFL Flag Football program registration is open and will begin playing September 19th.

Registration is open

The Flag Football program is designed to introduce younger children to the sport, teach very basic fundamentals and most of all to have fun playing football. Teams will be split up by GVSD elementary school so kids can play with their classmates. So grab some of your friends, register the kids and start the elementary school team. The Season begins Sept. 19th!

All games and practices will be at the new Great Valley Community Center complex on Bacton Hill Rd. Weekend games will be 1 hour long, three practices at the beginning of the season, with the season concluding the 1st week of November.

Fall Cheer

Fall Cheer for Gr. K-1

Flag football cheerleading is for athletes in K and 1st grade to get introduced to the cheerleading program GVCO has to offer. The athletes will learn cheers, dance and jumps. They will cheer during the flag football games and perform at half time to all fans. Registration closes 9/14. Register now!

Caring Hands/

Community Service

Our Great Valley community has had its share of unfortunate experiences - with many unforeseen consequences for those involved and affected. GVCO Caring Hands was established to empower local middle and high school students to support their community by volunteering for events, running collection drives and raising funds for those that need it.

Students in grades 7-12 are welcome to join Caring Hands for the 2023-24 school year. The Caring Hands newsletters, Facebook and Instagram will have information for ways both students and parents can get involved. For further questions, please reach out to community@gvco.org.

Some of the upcoming community service opportunities in September will include Charlestown Township's Charlestown Day event, events to support the Brandywine Valley SPCA and a Cradles to Crayons donation drive.

Project Update

The sidewalks are in, the curbs and island are complete for the drop off area in front of the building, and the parking lot lights are being installed. It's been another few days of great progress at the site. Inside the facility, the drywall has been taped and sanded while the painters are scheduled for just after Labor Day.

As Fall arrives, we anticipate opening the doors for the community's new center.

Financing the New GVCO Community Center

It's time for everyone in our Great Valley community to GIVE BACK. The community's support over the past six years has been tremendous [Donor List (8/7) ]. Let's finish what we started, paying off the debt and moving forward with the next phase of the project. To do this, the support must continue and be more broad based.

We are asking for help from the entire Great Valley private, public and business community.

Ways You can Give

For further details on the project, how you can make a significant financial impact or information with regard to Naming Rights for the complex and areas throughout the project, please reach out to Keith Walsh at execdirector@gvco.org
