Spotlight Teams of the Week
Girls 3/4 Wings: '
The GVBL Girls 3/4 Wings basketball team has shown significant growth from the start of the season til now. The team has continued to build their skill and good sportsmanship amongst a highly talented 3/4 GVBL Girls recreational league. Everyone has a positive outlook going into next weeks playoffs. Best of luck to all the teams and coaches.' - Coaches Cole and Stitzer
Girls 5/6 Desmond of Malvern Rockers: 'We
closed out the regular season with a close, tough loss to the Fever. With no subs on the bench, the girls played hard, moved the ball around and Lauren Chain drilled a three-pointer. It was an up and down season for the Rockers, as they started off 4-0, but then lost their next 6, three of which were by two points or less. They battled the 1-seeded Sparks tough last weekend, and despite coming out on the short end felt good about how they played and the improvements they made. Coach Chain noted, "We have everyone right where we want them! The girls are playing well, and we are going to shock the world!' - Coaches Mattison and Chain
Boys 5/6 Synergy Sports& Orthopedic Physical Therapy Rebels:
'We
have had a good season so far, with a lot of close games. The boys have really come together to work as a team and are really looking forward to the upcoming playoffs.' - Coach Garcia
Boys 5/6 Wolfpack:
'
The Wolfpack had a tough battle with the Hoosiers and the score at halftime had the two teams almost even. In the second half though the Wolfpack picked each other up and blanketed the Hoosiers with some tough defense to grab their 9
th
consecutive win.' - Coach Callan
Boys 7/8 Revel Nail Hurricanes: 'We
wound up the regular season with a win on Friday night, as they move into the playoffs as the second seed in the division. The 8th graders on the Hurricanes had their last GVBL rec practice last week and played some rousing pick up games and then finished with the always-enjoyable Knockout, which Jack Woodard managed to dominate, despite nearly scraping the rafters on every shot attempt. The Hurricanes playoff run will also finish out the coaching duo of Mike Woodard and Rick Mattison, as they were randomly paired together during the first season of boys' first and second grade and stuck with each other for 8 seasons, something rarely seen. While the duo hasn't put together a championship yet, they have had a lot of fun and enjoyed a lot of laughs on the sidelines. However, Coach Woodard made it clear at the last practice, "Let's go out and win a championship, boys!' - Coaches Mattison and Woodard

4th Grade Boys - REBELS
The 4th grade Rebels are having a nice season in the Malvern League. Rebels won again yesterday to go 8-0 for the season. Rebels are looking forward to playing in our first tournament this weekend - the SpringFord President’s Day Tournament.
|
|
5th Grade Girls - STORM
The Storm had a productive and successful week. On Wednesday, they scrimmaged a 6th grade CYO team. Early on the Storm struggled with the zone defense, but they played better in the second half and competed well. On Sunday, they had a Malvern game, where the team lost 38-30 against an opponent that hit a lot of contested shots. It showed some resiliency, though, as they were down 18-6 at halftime and battled back to make it a game. On Sunday evening, the Storm traveled to Upper Dublin and won their ICBA game 37-19. Ava Hall paced the offense with 17 points, and the Storm's full court press gave the opposition fits early on. The Storm have a busy week coming up as they have an ICBA game on Friday and Sunday and will also be competing in the Spring Ford Tournament.

|
6th Grade Boys - 2026ers
The 2026ers White Team played Strong in the 1/2 of the game on Sunday but wasn't able to bring home the win.
Last Wednesday night, the 2026ers Blue Team kept their playoff hopes alive by overcoming an early deficit with airtight defense in the second half and holing on it a one point victory. They kept their playoff push going on Sunday with another strong win, beating a highly ranked Towamencin team by 11 points.
|
|
6th Grade Girls - LIGHTNING
The weekend started on a low note for the Lightning, with tough fought loss to a good ICBA team Saturday morning. But the team rallied and had a great game on Sunday against a really scrappy Malvern League team. Everybody contributed with great defense and assists and the points were spread out among the team. The girls are playing like a unit! We have a quiet weekend coming up, with just one game scheduled for Friday night at the Middle School.
|
|
7th Grade Boys - PATRIOTS 2025
The 7th Grade Blue Team lost a tough battle to Aston on Sunday in Malvern League play 50 - 39. They put on a full court press in the second half to go toe to toe with them but just couldn't pull out the W.
The 7th Grade White Team Lost to the Radnor Rockets in a hard fought battle. This Team continues to improve in offense, defense and Team Communication.
The 7th Grade ICBA Team defeated Whitpain away on Sunday 55 - 30. They struggled at the beginning of the game to get things going, but put on a full court press that put a lock down on Whitpain offensive efforts. The team continues to execute and improve their offensive sets and communication with each other. They are currently in 1st place in their ICBA Division with the least amount of points allowed. A goal they have been working very hard to achieve.
|
|
7th Grade Girls - TITANS
Helped by a stifling defense, the Titans won a close battle over Upper Makefield, 27-23. The win puts the girls at 4-6 in ICBA Division 1. In 5
th
place currently with two final regular season games next weekend, the Titans are fighting for a playoff spot.
