James McKay Memorial Tournament UPDATE
|
Due to the coronavirus COVID-19 and taking proactive steps to manage concerns f
or the welfare of staff and students, West Chester University informed us that they would be canceling our event at their Hollinger Field House and their Student Rec Center.
As a result, our
McKay Memorial Tournament has been canceled
with the
EXCEPTION OF THE BOYS & GIRLS 4th GRADE DIVISIONS.
THESE GAMES WILL BE PLAYED AS SCHEDULED AT OUR GVBL CENTER
this weekend on Saturday & Sunday, March 14-15th.
Obviously, we are disappointed in this decision as GVBL had nearly 70 teams that were planning to play this weekend. All not playing this weekend will receive a full refund.
4th Grade teams stayed tuned for more information.
Steven Wei will be sending out several communications to all those teams involved.

5th Grade Boys- RAIDERS~KNIGHTS~DRAGONS
The Knights lost to Roslyn in their division's Championship game, but had an incredible ICBA season. All three 5th Grade teams will be playing in the James McKay Tournament to wrap up the year.

|
5th Grade Girls - STORM
The Storm competed in the ICBA division 3 championship game last Friday night against Towamencin, the only team to hand the Storm a loss during the ICBA season. It was a back and forth defensive battle throughout. At halftime, the Storm held a 10-5 lead. Late in the 4th quarter, Towamencin took a one-point, 17-16 lead. With 12 second left, the Storm brought the ball in, and Ava Hall was fouled in the act of shooting with 6 ticks on the clock remaining. With ice water running through her veins, Ava calmly knocked down both free throws, each one hitting nothing but net. After a timeout, the Storm forced a turnover into the waiting arms of Lily Lexer, who quickly got the ball to Ava Hall, fouled again with 0.6 seconds to go. Again, two for two, and the Storm captured a 20-17 victory to claim the division 3 ICBA championship. The Storm finish the ICBA slate with a 14-1 record and look forward to competing in the GVBL James McKay Memorial Tournament this coming weekend

6th Grade Girls - LIGHTNING
It was a disappointing ICBA finish for the Lightning on Saturday, when they lost to the #2 seed Main Line Girls 31-29 in overtime. It was an exciting game and the girls battled to come back and gave themselves a chance to win. All in all, it was a very successful ICBA season. Up next is the GV James McKay Tournament!
|
|
7th Grade Boys - PATRIOTS 2025
The 7th Grade Boys Travel Team fell short on Sunday against Audobon in the ICBA Championship Game 78 - 58. The Team allowed opponents to average only 31 points per game during regular season play. We forgot to bring our Defense with us to this game. The boys finished the season 12 and 2 overall and we have a lot to work on prior to heading into the state tournament in two weeks. Their growth this year has been exponential and being in the Championship Game and earning an invitation to the State Tournament are HUGE accomplishments for them.

The GVHS girls basketball had an incredible win against West York High School. It was a very physical and talented game played by both teams. Great Valley won with less than seconds left 40-39.
The Lady Patriots are now in the Sweet 16 round! Good luck girls!!!
