1st/2nd grade Clinics Begin at the Phelps School this Evening
Thank you all for participating in the 2022 GVBL Summer League. Since its inception in 2001, GVBL has been involved with successfully teaching basketball to the youngsters here in our community. It is being done by a great number of volunteers each and every year. As we mentioned at the skills assessment sessions, GVBL is going back to holding clinics for the first two sessions of the 1st/2nd grade summer league. Many of the kids have never played before and some have limited experience. We will be having the 1st/2nd grade teams get together tonight on at the Phelps School Athletic Center. Please check the schedule on the GVBL app to see when your team is scheduled to play.
We have found these clinic sessions are the best way to begin the summer league season. We will try to get all the kids initially comfortable and go over some of the basic basketball fundamentals in preparation for these young players to have fun and learn how to play basketball.
Coaches will meet with their teams and hand out jerseys early in the session. Players should wear shorts and sneakers; basketball equipment will be supplied. We will spend the first two sessions of the season in a clinic style with multiple teams involved learning some basic fundamentals. After the first two clinic sessions we will be following the game schedule outlined on the GVBL app.
Looking forward to this evening and another successful GVBL Summer League season.
Thanks
Gary Taiariol, GVBL Director
Jareth Schmehl, GVBL Summer League Coordinator
