GVBL Basketball Weekly Update
Hopefully everyone enjoyed our GVBL opening weekend! The kids seemed pretty excited for the tip-off of the 2020-2021 winter season...a little rusty, but eager to get back out on the court. Amazing how big some of the 7th/8th grade kids got; how good the 3rd/4th grade kids are; and how out of control a 6 year old can be while running and dribbling a basketball!
This coming week starts the regular season (games this past weekend did not count towards the standings) and we suggest that everyone take a look at the GVBL Rules on the website, so they are aware of some of the things being stressed at each division level.
Once again we want to thank all of the parents that sat at the scorers table this weekend. Remember, everyone take a turn volunteering. Thanks to ALL of the volunteer coaches who have gotten this GVBL season off to a great, quick start. And of course, thanks goes out to the Phelps School for allowing us to use their beautiful facilities.
Also thank you to everyone for understanding the environment we are in due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We took notice that the "one parent per player rule" was fairly well observed. We would ask that you continue to be diligent throughout the season with adherence to this rule, so we may better avoid the spread of the virus.
Look for the upcoming schedule update for further dates going forward into the season. Scheduling Wizard McDaniel will have something out to everyone in the next 7-10 days.
Enjoy the season and cheer loudly for BOTH teams when you're in the gym!
