Hive
Over the December 10th-11th weekend the Great Valley Hive "6th Girls" completed their undefeated run in the Division 2 ICBA Queen of the Court Tournament finishing off a defensive minded and gritty Warrington - Warminster team 17-14! The Hive jumped out early 11-1 and never looked back! The girls held their opponents to 13 points per game over the tournament and scored a division high 49 points against Upper Dublin in the tournament's first game. Great job Hive!
Last weekend the Hive opened play in Division 1 of the ICBA League, where the girls will face 6 of the State's top teams over the course of the regular season. Up first - the giants of Springford, a true test! The Hive Girls played exceptional defense which led to an exciting 13-11 Halftime lead, in the end the Hive fell to the height and low post presence of the talented group from Springford 25-32. On Sunday the girls faced off against the Downingtown Heat in a neighbourly contest. The Hive rolled in the second half and cruised to a 33-21 victory. Alex Altemose hit two crucial baskets early in the 4th quarter to put the game out of reach.
The girls are back at it this week in practice preparing for a rematch against Springford!

WHERE WE PLAY BASKETBALL
The biggest challenge for GVBL is finding and scheduling the gym space for the 80+ teams during the winter season. There just isn't enough available court space within our district. GVCO is working towards a solution - the new GVCO Community Center project on Bacton Hill Rd.
In the meantime, we are renting the court space from some of our "community partners". Please remember to treat all of these facilities with respect while visiting for practices and games. The Phelps School, Grand Slam and the GVSD have been nice enough to allow us to use their buildings, so please treat this usage properly as we cannot afford to lose our privileges at any of these facilities

As a selfless player on the basketball court, and a true, caring friend off the court, Siddhant epitomizes the values on which our Great Valley Community organization is built…family, friends and community.
This scholarship is designed to help others who may need assistance, giving them the opportunity to participate in GVCO programming.

Ever since he followed his dad, a building contractor, on trips to the lumber yard, Chris Payson has had a passion for remodeling. He followed that passion, and his desire to serve, to the Air Force. After graduating with top honors from the Naval Construction Training Center, he specialized in structural systems for engineering squadrons.
Following his military service, he continued to hone his craft as he worked for Philadelphia-area builders. In 2007, he and his wife Angela, set out to serve their neighbors, one remodeling project at a time. Working out of their living room, they launched West Chester Design Build. 2 years ago, West Chester Design Build evolved from a small local business, to COCOON an award-winning home remodeling company. The COCOON Design Studio is now a destination in the area for home remodeling and positive transformation.
COCOON is a full-service design-build remodeling company offering Architectural Design, Interior Design and Construction services for families looking to transform their home by adding an addition or remodeling their kitchen, bathroom, or basement.
Christopher Lake, a Project Manager for COCOON has been coaching his daughters, Alexa & Addy’s sports teams for 5 years. Chris considers GVCO to be a terrific organization and considers GVBL to be a bonus for the community. He likes to see the kid’s progress throughout the season, see their confidence grow & see them excited & happy. By teaching teamwork & to rely on each other is something they will take with them as they grow into adults. Chris believes in addition to being a coach he is also a cheerleader for the players.

Without our sponsor support, there would be a financial shortfall for equipment, administration and facilities rental. GVBL would like to thank all those who have stepped up to support GVBL. Please scroll to the bottom of this publication for a complete listing of those who have provided support. If you are familiar with who they are, please reach out to thank them. In addition, as always please try and support these local businesses throughout the year, shopping and doing business right here at home.
