THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO
SHOPPED LOCAL THIS PAST WEEK
Without our sponsor support, there would be a financial shortfall for equipment, administration and facilities rental. GVBL would like to thank all those who have stepped up to support GVBL. Please scroll to the bottom of this publication for a complete listing of those who have provided support. If you are familiar with who they are, please reach out to thank them. In addition, as always please try and support these local businesses throughout the year, shopping and doing business right here at home.

TOURNAMENT TEAM NEWS

The tournament season has arrived and out GV teams have jumped right on board.
The Boys 5th and 8th grade teams kicked off their seasons at the John Streeper Memorial Turkey Shootout up at Perk Valley this past Thanksgiving holiday break.

This coming week, five of our GV tournament teams will be involved in a massive tournament in King of Prussia and the surrounding region. The ICBA King of the Court event will be hosting our 6th and 8th grade girls and boys teams, as well as our 5th grade boys team. For complete schedule and tournament info please go to King of the Court.
GVHS Basketball

Both the Boys and Girls teams have completed their tryouts and have begun practicing over the Thanksgiving break.

Both teams will have their 2nd scrimmages of the season on Wednesday before kicking off their regular season schedules on December 2nd.
Come out and cheer the Girls on at their season opener vs Upper Merion at Home this Friday evening. The Boys open up away vs Collegium Charter but will open up at home next Tuesday against neighboring Phoenixville. Complete schedules can be found at: https://gvhs.digitalsports.com/#events
GVMS Basketball News

The Girls 7th and 8th grade teams completed their tryouts earlier this month and are set to begin their seasons tomorrow. Good luck with the season!

As usual, the MS Boys teams start a little later with tryouts during the week of December 5th. Keep an eye out for the 7th & 8th grade schedules as the majority of their games are played in January & February.
WHERE WE PLAY THE BASKETBALL

The biggest challenge for GVBL is finding and scheduling the gym space for the 80+ teams during the winter season. There just isn't enough available court space within our district. GVCO is working towards a solution - the new GVCO Community Center project on Bacton Hill Rd.

In the meantime, we are renting the court space from some of our "community partners". Please remember to treat all of these facilities with respect while visiting for practices and games. The Phelps School, Grand Slam and the GVSD have been nice enough to allow us to use their buildings, so please treat this usage properly as we cannot afford to lose our privileges at any of these facilities
Caring Hands
Our GV Cheer program, in association with our GVCO Caring Hands student volunteers, hosted our 1st Annual GVCO Turkey Trot. The Walk and Run began at the new GVCO Community Center complex and concluded at the new East Whiteland township Bacton Hill Park across from the GVCO complex.

Participants were asked to bring along donated items for our Home of the Sparrow donation drive to benefit their Giving Tuesday White Out event. It was a beautiful Thanksgiving day with kids and adults having a good morning of fun and exercise.
Caring Hands is a student-led volunteer group that supports the community through various activities. Students in grades 7-12 and their parents can sign up for the Constant Contact Caring Hands News distribution list for the 2022-23 school year. More upcoming event information can be found on Caring Hands News & Updates
Siddhant Suresh Scholarship Fund

This scholarship fund was created to honor the memory of Siddhant Suresh, a wonderful son and brother, beloved community member and an outstanding student who loved basketball and chess. Siddhant was a GVBL tournament team and recreation league player, who enjoyed the sport and played it with great team spirit and enthusiasm.
As a selfless player on the basketball court, and a true, caring friend off the court, Siddhant epitomizes the values on which our Great Valley Community organization is built…family, friends and community.

This scholarship is designed to help others who may need assistance, giving them the opportunity to participate in GVCO programming.

Participants must reside within Great Valley School District to be eligible for the scholarship funds.

Malvern Lawn Care

Ethan Seeley was 12 years old when he started mowing his neighbor's yard. He loved the flexibility working for himself offered while managing sports and school. Malvern Lawn Care began as a high schooler's side job in 2016 when he started mowing yards out of the back of his Nissan Maxima and a friend's Jeep.

Three years later, Malvern Lawn Care has grown from a mowing side business into a complete property maintenance and hardscaping company. Nearly all current and past employees are Great Valley Graduates, which helps keep a small company feel as the company grows larger.

Malvern Lawn Care offers complete property maintenance, installations & large projects, hardscaping and masonry, and snow removal.

Ethan, a former high school and college wrestler, believes that the sport taught him more about life than anything else. His core values of hard work, dedication, and setting a good example set him up perfectly to be a business owner. He enjoys working, lifting, talking with other entrepreneurs, and finding more efficient ways to run and grow the business. Ethan likes to share one piece of advice you cannot be afraid to talk to people more successful than you. Ask them questions – find something from every encounter and apply it to what you are doing.
