TOURNAMENT TEAM NEWS
Storm
The Storm kicked off their 8th grade tournament team season this past weekend, picking up two wins in three games. On Saturday evening, the team competed in the ICBA King of the Court tournament, facing off against Perkiomen Valley. On Sunday, the team kicked off its Competitive Edge season with a contest against a sharp-shooting Philly Roots team. The Storm matched the Roots hot shooting in the exciting 39-37 overtime victory. On Sunday evening, the Storm traveled out to Charger Nation for an 8:00 PM game against Paoli, finishing with a 36-26 victory. The team will be back in action next week with a final King of Court game on Saturday against MARA, with an outside shot of making the tournament championship game.

Knights and Raiders
Both 8th grade boys teams started the tournament this weekend, Knights went 1-1 and the Raiders played a good game but lost to Lenape Valley.

Hive
The Hive kicked off their 4th season with three decisive victories. The first game was an ICBA “King of the Court” tournament game with the Hive’s athleticism on full display in a 46-19 victory over Upper Dublin. Contest two, another King of the Court tournament game at Charger Nation featured another scrappy opponent in Perk Valley for a 28-7 win. The Hive arrived from game 2 of the weekend just in time for tip off of game 3 to earn a hard-fought victory over a very good Downingtown team. Congrats to all of the Hive Ladies who will be back next weekend for the conclusion of the ICBA King of the Court tournament!

29ers
The 29ers were thrilled to get back to the court and welcome our six new players this weekend! The team went 2-0 in the King of the Court Tournament, fueled by Dylan Gustafson’s rebounding/shooting, Cooper Willey’s passing/shooting, James McCollum’s defense/shooting, and Noah Gardner controlling the point. In Malvern League action, the 29ers got off to a strong start behind the passing and defensive effort of Luke Bennett. Next up: King of the Court game Saturday against MARA and Malvern League game against the WC Rising Starz.

Raptors
The 5th grade boys went 0-2. They played a good second game but lost to 24-21 to Upper Dublin.
GVHS Basketball
GVHS Boys

The GV Boys basketball team opened their season on December 2nd against Collegium Charter. The boys came away with a 45-32 victory, led by 14 points from Pranav Hegde and 12 points from Jack Woodard. The Patriots have 2 games this week, home Tuesday against Phoenixville and Saturday against Haverford.

GVHS Girls

The GVHS Girls had their Tip-Off tournament this past weekend. Both the JV and varsity teams won both of their games. Both teams performed very well with solid defense and a well executed offense. They have a game this Tuesday against Coatesville and home Thursday against Council Rock North.

GVMS Basketball
GVMS Girls Basketball

The GVMS girls' 8th grade team began the season where it left off last winter, winning its first two games this past week. On Tuesday, the team hosted North Brandywine and cruised to a 42-8 victory. On Thursday, the home contests continued with Downingtown coming to the GVMS gym. The final score was 39-21, but it was not nearly that close during the game. This week the team has one game on the schedule, hosting Fugett Middle School on Tuesday, in what should be a competitive game for the GVMS hoopsters.

GVMS Boys Basketball

The Boys MS tryouts begin today, December 5th. Keep an eye out for the 7th & 8th grade schedules as the majority of their games are played in January & February.

WHERE WE PLAY THE BASKETBALL

The biggest challenge for GVBL is finding and scheduling the gym space for the 80+ teams during the winter season. There just isn't enough available court space within our district. GVCO is working towards a solution - the new GVCO Community Center project on Bacton Hill Rd.

In the meantime, we are renting the court space from some of our "community partners". Please remember to treat all of these facilities with respect while visiting for practices and games. The Phelps School, Grand Slam and the GVSD have been nice enough to allow us to use their buildings, so please treat this usage properly as we cannot afford to lose our privileges at any of these facilities
Caring Hands
7 student volunteers along with a number of the Caring Hands advisory board got together with the Desmond Saturday morning to wrap gifts for our Good Neighbor initiative. This is a great cause that GVCO Caring Hands has been doing for a good number of years. We provide donated gifts to 300-400 seniors/older adults involved at the Phoenixville Senior Center, Surrey Services for Seniors in Devon and the Great Valley Senior community. All of these gifts are wrapped and given out at each of their Senior Luncheons held during December.

Caring Hands is a student-led volunteer group that supports the community through various activities. Students in grades 7-12 and their parents can sign up for the Constant Contact Caring Hands News distribution list for the 2022-23 school year. More upcoming event information can be found on Caring Hands News & Updates
Siddhant Suresh Scholarship Fund
This scholarship fund was created to honor the memory of Siddhant Suresh, a wonderful son and brother, beloved community member and an outstanding student who loved basketball and chess. Siddhant was a GVBL tournament team and recreation league player, who enjoyed the sport and played it with great team spirit and enthusiasm.
As a selfless player on the basketball court, and a true, caring friend off the court, Siddhant epitomizes the values on which our Great Valley Community organization is built…family, friends and community.

This scholarship is designed to help others who may need assistance, giving them the opportunity to participate in GVCO programming.

Participants must reside within Great Valley School District to be eligible for the scholarship funds.

GVBL Sponsors
Without our sponsor support, there would be a financial shortfall for equipment, administration and facilities rental. GVBL would like to thank all those who have stepped up to support GVBL. Please scroll to the bottom of this publication for a complete listing of those who have provided support. If you are familiar with who they are, please reach out to thank them. In addition, as always please try and support these local businesses throughout the year, shopping and doing business right here at home.
