GVCO partnered with A Blessing Hand Up, a Malvern non-profit, to host a free prom closet for local teenagers. Charmion Rosen and her network collected 200 plus dresses, shoes, jewelry and suits from individuals and shops. Local businesses donated gift cards and gift baskets as raffle items. Students could win items such as hair styling, manicures, spa treatments and foods. Read the complete article in Main Line Tonight

Food Drive for People's Pantry at Church Road


The People's Pantry is a Malvern based non-profit supporting those with food insecurity in the local area.


During March, GVCO's Caring Hands members collected food and household necessities for members of the Great Valley community.


Members must return their food bags by Friday, April 5th.

Proceeds benefit the Great Valley Crew Team.

Kong Making for the Brandywine Valley SPCA


Caring Hands will be hosting Kong making for the dogs at the SPCA on Saturday, April 13th at GVCO!

Prescription Drugs Medicare Seminar

April 23rd at 9AM at GVCO


Dana Matkovic will be returning for her bi-monthly Medicare 101 seminars. These very informative, interactive seminars are always full of great questions about everything "Medicare". Dana's many years in the business allows her to share her vast knowledge through Q&A in a small group setting. One of the key topics at this session will be prescription drug costs, along with prescription drug cost savings tips. Attendees will learn ways to save money on costly prescription drugs through the use of coupon cards, Tier level exceptions, formulary requests, pharmaceutical patient assistance programs, online pharmacies, non-profit organization grants.

To help residents securely dispose of documents containing sensitive and personal information, state Senator Carolyn Comitta and state Representative Kristine Howard are hosting a shredding event on Saturday, April 27th from 10AM-1PM at the Malvern Fire Company.


5 Caring Hands volunteers will help carry materials from residents' cars. A sign-up link for this event will be in the Caring Hands newsletter.


Calling All Bakers

and Dog Lovers!


Caring Hands will be hosting a table at the Brandywine Valley's SPCA Walk 4 Paws event on 4/27 from 9-1pm at West Goshen Community Park! We will be selling baked goods for those in attendance and need volunteers help!


We will need star bakers to make treats to sell as well as people to sell them at the event.


All proceeds from the event will benefit the BV SPCA.

Green Meadows Flower Planting

Sat. 5/4

Caring Hands volunteers will be decorating plant pots, planting flowers in them and creating encouragement cards for patients at Green Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Paoli.

Badminton

The Badminton Program is excited to a badminton training program designed to allow kids who live in and near the Great Valley School district the opportunity to experience and develop their badminton games. The program will be administered by Philadelphia Badminton, www.PhiladelphiaBadminton.com, that has been successfully running its badminton training program with USA Badminton-certified and US center for Safe Sport trained coaches. GVCO Pickleball In Full Swing! The GVCO Community Center's 4 new pickleball courts are open and getting some great play.

Use the Team Reach app with a group code of "GVCOPB" to find available court time and who is playing. Since the beginning of January, the Picklers have been playing weekdays from 9am through 3:00pm. Now that GVCO has things rolling, look for increased hours including weekends and evenings.

Challenger Gym


Challenger Gym is a recreational community gym program for kids who have extra challenges. It is a fun hour of play where friendships are forged, and games and activities are adapted to make everyone feel successful. For many years, Challenger Gym has allowed those who may not find success in traditional community sports programs to laugh, run, jump, throw, make friends and shine! 

The French and Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust will be hosting its 22nd Annual French Creek Iron Tour Cycling for Open Space rally on June 9th


Many volunteers are needed on different days. When signing up, please include GVCO with your name.

Our first ever blood drive went amazing! We collected 115% of the Red Cross's Goal! We thank everyone that came out to donate and will be hosting multiple a year in the future.


Next blood drive will be in Sept. 2024

 

The GVCO community collected 100+ shoes for In Ian's Boots. Thank you to those who donated and the shoes are currently being distributed to those in need.
