GVCO Caring Hands is busy!!

Caring Hands is looking for volunteers to plant flowers in pots to brighten the day for seniors at the Green Meadows Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Students sign up for Sunday, April 25th from 1-3pm! Adult volunteers are also welcome to join the event. Students who can't make the potting day can help by writing cards to the seniors.

GVCO Caring Hands is providing lunch for the volunteers from
The Clinic, Healthcare for the Uninsured who are vaccinating local individuals who are experiencing hardship and have no insurance.

In March, GVCO Caring Hands donated $1,000 to our neighbor, Home of the Sparrow, in support of their mission to provide housing, education and support for homeless women and children in Chester County.

In late February, Caring Hands student volunteers decorated 50 boxes for the Chester County Food Bank Senior Food Boxes, for local senior citizens to be pleasantly surprised with their food deliveries!

Internship Opportunities

College-aged; full time (40 hours) Summer Internship

GVCO is looking for a self-motivated individual interested in assisting our organization with its summer 2021 programming. The ideal candidate should have strong interpersonal and organizational skills, be able to work in a team environment, and enjoy working with youth. The candidate should have a background or interest in athletics, an understanding of scheduling, and budgetary/finance capabilities. Contact Keith Walsh at Kewalsh33@aol.com

High School Internships
(Fall 2021)
GVCO is looking for several high school (juniors or seniors) interns in the Fall 2021 to assist with programming and administrative responsibilities. Internship will last throughout the ‘school year'. Hours would be after school, 3pm and 5pm Mondays through Fridays. 2 to 5 hours per week. GVCO will work with you to create flexible scheduling around academic responsibilities, sports seasons, theater and arts commitments, etc. Compensation will be $9.00 per hour. All adults and students are welcome to volunteer for Caring Hands causes or events held during the year. We've held drives for Cradles to Crayons & Families in Need, food drives for local pantries, senior holiday gift donations and various holiday sales events. We always need more

Challenger Gym

GVCO has begun planning for our Fall Challenger Gym programming to provide a community gym program for kids with physical and/or other challenges, with an emphasis on having fun and forging relationships between the kids with special challenges and Great Valley High School buddies.

What was once a relatively simple plant, cannabis (marijuana) has inspired everything from fear to fierce loyalty. We’ll have a conversation about the science of today’s marijuana and its impact on young people’s developing brains.
Our presenters will address the effects of increased THC levels, social norms, availability, and the impact on a young, developing brain.

Siddhant Suresh Scholarship Fund

The GVCO community, along with the Suresh family, have been extremely successful at initially funding this scholarship fund for those in need of financial assistance for GVCO programming.

AP Exams in 2021

This year has brought changes to just about every facet of schooling, including the calendar for AP Exams and the way they will be administered. AP Exams this May and June will be offered in both paper and electronic formats.

Steps4Hope is a nonprofit foundation established in 2014 by the Moules family, following the tragic loss of their son and brother, Jonathan. 

Steps4Hope is committed to raise awareness, end the stigma associated with the disease of addiction, and save lives.


Jill Whitcomb, will serve as interim CEO for Surrey. Jill joined Surrey in January of 2020 as Chief Advancement Officer. She has launched successful fundraising initiatives that support Surrey's nutrition program, Technology Lending Library, and The Beilenson Institute. She also led the team that held The Roaring ‘20s, Surrey’s first virtual gala, which surpassed its fundraising goal.

Christi Seidel has resigned from her position as President and CEO of Surrey. Christi will be working as a consultant for a period of time in order to transition her duties and responsibilities to Jill Whitcomb, who will serve as the interim CEO. We thank Christi for her many years of service to Surrey and wish her well in her future endeavors.

GVCO looks forward to working with Jill and continuing our great partnership with Surrey!
