Community Program News

Director's Message

With a little more than a year under our belts at the new GVCO Community Center, it appears as though the community is really embracing the new facility. Our long standing GVBL youth recreational basketball program continues to thrive and the games seem to be more thrilling than ever.

But the much more exciting news for GVCO is all of the increased community programming that has been rolled out now that GVCO has its own dedicated space. We will be holding our 3rd Blood Drive in a little over a month. We had our first series of English Language Learners program, tutoring adults to better understand the English language this past fall. The Great Valley HS chapter of Best Buddies International held a successfully fun regional cornhole tournament for the first time in the building. We once again partnered with the Brandywine Valley SPCA and held our first ever Yoga With Puppies class. And we have developed a wonderful relationship with the Chester County Intermediate Unit and students in their Discover Program.

The cool part is, this is just the tip of the iceberg! We are coordinating an upcoming bingo event with the East Whiteland Township in late February. This will springboard GVCO into offering a regularly schedule bingo events for seniors in the region, targeted to begin in March. We will be holding our first ever pickleball tournament in early March. It will be targeted to be a day of fun with some spirited competition. GVCO will also be coming out with a full summer camp schedule, and we will be bringing back a community favorite, Fun Camp for Girls. Something we had done very successfully prior to Covid.

So, as we begin 2025, continue to follow GVCO, as we will bring you many of the same wonderful programming we have offered for years. We've added a few new exciting programs. And as always, if you have an idea that you think the community would benefit from, please reach out and share it with us, and let's see if we can add it to the programming!

Let's finish what we started, paying off the debt and moving forward with the next phase of the project. To do this, the support must continue and be more broad based.

We are asking for help from the entire Great Valley private, public and business community.

Ways You Can Give
