Challenger Gym News

This Year Marks 15 Years of Challenger Gym!

And...

GVCO is hosting Challenger Gym once again this year!

This Past Week....

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, Challenger Gym had some fun fall and Thanksgiving themed activities!

What is Challenger Gym?

The emphasis is on having fun by providing physical activities in which the kids can successfully participate and forging relationships between kids with extra challenges and high school buddies, mostly from Great Valley High School.

Under the direction of Wendy Morris, a licensed and practicing physical therapist, the “buddies” are guided in building relationships and helping everyone to successfully participate.

Over the years, the responses have been fantastic. Friendships have been forged and a comfort level interacting with people of all abilities has left life-long impressions on many.

Details are coming regarding Spring Challenger Gym. Information for both participants and volunteers will communicated after the new year.

Volunteering with Challenger Gym

At the heart of the program are the dedicated high school buddy volunteers who remain the same each week.

Gabbie, a participant of Challenger Gym, say that she "loves being able to work with the kids and help them through the different activities." Another participant, Shakti, says that "it made her happy seeing the connection she formed with her partner and seeing the difference it made in his day."
