President's Report
Hello everyone from President Mike!
I hope all is good with everyone and you have all been able to stay cool. When you receive this newsletter the Iowa State Fair will be on or just over.
We had a good June and July here at GVSS. See our statistics listed below. We at GVSS say a big “Thank-You” for all the volunteer efforts helping keep the residents of Grimes in their own homes. We look forward to collaborating with our volunteers to offer our services at no cost to the residents of Grimes.
If you have any questions for us, please feel free to contact the office at 515-986-5355 during office hours of 9:30 to 11:30 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. You can also leave a message at any other time.
Please remember that all our services are offered to our clients without charge. GVSS is an all-volunteer not for profit corporation. Our volunteers are extremely important to us. We are always looking for volunteers to continue this great service to the residents of Grimes.

GVSS STATISTICS
June Report:
Drivers - 29, Trips - 186, DME loans - 2; Yard work-48, Clean/repair - 1, Personal Assistance - 26, Total Volunteers - 37, miles driven - 3,008; 414 Hours providing service and organizing and administering the programs.
July Report:
Drivers -31, Trips -197, Clean/repair -4, Yard work -26, Personal Assistance -31, Total Volunteers -37, miles driven -2876, 387 Hours provided of service and organizing and administering the programs.
ALL of this was provided to our clients without charge.
Since GVSS is an all-volunteer not-for-profit corporation, volunteers are extremely important. If a volunteer doesn't do it, it does not get done.
We have NO staff of any kind. No one is paid for their time. Drivers donate their time, their car, their gas, etc.
If you've thought about volunteering for GVSS, give us a call. We've had several years of experience in utilizing employed volunteers!

GVSS BOARD MEETING
The GVSS Board of Directors met Tuesday July 19, 2022.
The following Policy and Procedures were reviewed and approved: Apparel Award & Recognition, Bereavement, Expense Approval, and FAQ.
President Bleskacek reported that during the last quarter we have recruited 5 new volunteers.
GVSS will also sponsor a hole again at the Chamber Golf Outing September 15. Mike will be sending out a request for volunteers to man the hole in the near future.
The next board meeting will be Tuesday September 20, 2022.

DAILY MEALS FOR SENIORS
All seniors are invited to congregate meals served daily at the Grimes Senior Center at 410 SE Main St. in the Grimes Community Complex. The Senior Center is open Monday-Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and lunch is served at 11:30 p.m.
For reservations, please call 986-5747 by noon the day before - and by noon Friday for a Monday meal. No fees for meals for those 60 and over; however, donations are accepted and appreciated.

Need to borrow a piece of equipment?
Give GVSS a call!
When you have need of a piece of durable medical equipment, please give us a call. If we have what you need in stock, we'll be happy to loan it to you without charge for as long as you may need it.
We have crutches, walkers, canes, shower chairs and benches, quad canes, manual wheelchairs, power wheelchairs, bath scales, elevated toilet seats, bed rails, toilet safety rails, and power lift recliners.
GVSS will clean, repair (if necessary), inventory, maintain and provide at no charge, loan of equipment to our clients who have a need. If you have equipment you'd like to donate, give us a call. We can schedule a time for you to bring it to the office or we'll come and pick it up.

GVSS has been providing services to Grimes area residents since February 2011. Since then we have provided more than 16,800 trips, driven over 229,00 miles and contributed over 37,500 hours of service to organize and provide assistance to residents of the community.
GVSS has over 230 clients and over 60 volunteers on our rosters.
