Sustainable Urban Planning Students Gain Hands-on Land Use Study Experience with Arlington County
Sustainable Urban Planning master's degree students enrolled in the studio course gained hands-on professional planning experience through a partnership with Arlington County’s Department of Community Planning, Housing and Development.

The students had the opportunity to work directly with professional planning staff in Arlington County, and participate in a real world land use study plan. 

Rising Star! Cybersecurity Alumna Shares GW Student Experience
We interviewed Ms. Alvine Ntandu, a 2019 cybersecurity bachelor’s degree completion graduate, about her GW student experience.

She credits her GW program curriculum, GW job fair and the NSF-SFS scholarship as being instrumental in her career progression to her current position preserving our national security. 

CPS Welcomes New Program Directors & Staff
CPS welcomes new program directors and staff, including:

  • Dr. Casey Burgat, program director, Legislative Affairs program;
  • Mackenzie Neal, a program associate in the AT&T Center for Indigenous Politics and Policy.
  • Amanda Gillespie, director of communications, marketing and recruitment;
  • Michelle Lague, instructional designer; and
  • Joe Garrett, interim program director, Information Technology program;

CPS Students Network with GW Board of Trustees
Seven students represented CPS at the GW Board of Trustees dinner in February. Deans throughout the university nominated students for this honor.

It was an opportunity for the board members to interact with and hear from students about their experiences at GW and an opportunity for students to network with them.

Congratulations to our marketing team for winning a Bronze Award in the Strategic Recruitment Marketing Plan category from UPCEA. The award recognized the team’s work implementing Pardot.

The Biology of Joy: A Special Event with Bruce H. Lipton, Ph.D.
Bruce Lipton speaking on the Biology of Joy
Dr. Bruce H. Lipton, an internationally acclaimed author and epigenetics expert, spoke at GW in December. During his talk, he guided the audience through a journey of self-discovery from the “chemistry of atoms to the chemistry of joy” to help them understand how they influence their own level of happiness. The event, hosted by the Center for Excellence in Public Leadership, highlights the Center’s work elevating consciousness in the nation’s capital through its leadership and coaching programs that focus on whole-person development. 

Attend the GW Ethics in Publishing Conference April 23 in D.C.
The Master of Professional Studies in publishing program will be holding its 10 th GW Ethics in Publishing Conference, April 23, 2020, at GW’s Gelman Library in Washington, D.C.

The conference includes presentations on topics such as equity, inclusion and accessibility. Publishers, librarians, students and researchers are invited to join us for the free event.

GW Data Analytics Boot Camp Boosts Mike Marshall's Career

Mike Marshall felt it was time to make some changes in his life. While working as a sales engineer in Washington, D.C. he realized he had hit a ceiling in advancement. He had gained some experience with measurements and metrics during his eight years in sales, and was interested in breaking into the world of business intelligence.

He chose GW’s Data Analytics Boot Camp for the intensive curriculum designed to teach the technical skills he needed to analyze and solve real world data problems in just 24 weeks. The boot camp is offered through the GW College of Professional Studies, in collaboration with Trilogy Education Services, a 2U, Inc. brand.

Congratulations to Gabrielle McCracken, a 2019 master’s degree alumna of the Cybersecurity Strategy & Information Management program for reaching the semi-finals in the 2020 GW New Venture Competition (NVC).

Congratulations to the Paralegal Studies program for a strong GW representation at the 34th Annual IPMA Conference and Expo this fall. Two of our paralegal program faculty won awards and one alumna. Faculty members also gave a presentation.
