Connecting passionate, talented individuals with leading employers in the green economy is central to our mission, and seeing those connections happen in real time was incredibly inspiring. Over 40 employers and more than 1200 people registered for the event. 

Equally impactful was our Environmental Justice (EJ) Summit. The conversations we had around equity, sustainable infrastructure, and community-led solutions were powerful reminders of why we do this work. True progress only happens when every community has a seat at the table, and your voices are driving that change forward.

June Recap

On June 16, the Greater Washington Region Clean Cities Coalition (GWRCCC) hosted its 3rd Annual Environmental Justice Summit at Howard University's Armour J. Blackburn Auditorium. The powerful forum brought together policymakers, industry experts, and community advocates to confront long-standing racial disparities across transportation, energy, and environmental policy.

This year's sessions dove deep into actionable, local solutions for the DMV region, focusing on three major areas:

• Expanding Equitable Access: A deep-dive panel on how expanding curbside EV charging in underserved neighborhoods can close the accessibility gap for residents without private parking.
• The Hidden Health Cost of Pollution: Industry experts and advocates examined how environmental burdens disproportionately affect frontline communities, mapping out clear strategies to reduce exposure and improve regional public health.
• A Shared Moral Responsibility: A concluding discussion on how civic engagement, collective action, and faith leadership can empower communities to drive their own clean energy futures.

By fostering a space for collaborative dialogue, the summit emphasized that the future of clean transportation and sustainable infrastructure in the Greater Washington area must be built on a foundation of equity.

We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate the incredible success of our June Job Fair! The energy in the room was unmatched, making it clear that our local workforce is ready to connect, grow, and take on new opportunities.

Celebrating the Appointment of Oluseyi Olugbenle as Acting Director of DPW&T

Kudos to Prince George’s County Executive Aisha N. Braveboy on the outstanding appointment of Oluseyi Olugbenle as the Acting Director of the Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T).

Having worked directly with Oluseyi for more than four years on critical clean transportation projects and regional committees, I have witnessed her dedication to innovative, equitable, and sustainable infrastructure solutions. Her extensive background makes her the perfect fit to guide the department forward. I am eager to continue our work together in this exciting new chapter for Prince George's County.
