GWRCCC would like your help as we gather input on our constituent’s level of interest for electric vehicles. We greatly appreciate your time to fill out our 30 second survey which will help us better educate and advocate for electric vehicle infrastructure, programs and initiatives in the Greater Washington Region and the nation.
The Montgomery County Electric Vehicle (EV) Purchasing Cooperative launched on Thursday, 20 January, with a call to action for residents and businesses to ‘Lead the EV Charge’ and sign the pledge to make their next car an electric, zero-emissions vehicle. To support consumers’ EV adoption, the cooperative’s website and resource hub provides up-to-date information on available EVs, EV charging, available incentives, and other resources. The Electrified Dealer program is another aspect of the co-op, which engages directly with county auto dealerships to ensure that they can provide consumers with the best EV sales service and are set up for success as the industry transitions to electric. By taking the pledge, county residents and businesses demonstrate consumer demand for EVs which can be leveraged to negotiate favorable EV pricing, and also draw attention to the region from EV manufacturers and dealers. This first phase of the Cooperative will run through May 2022, and is designed to support the achievement of the county’s Climate Action Plan goal of an 80 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2027, and a 100 percent reduction by 2035.
DOE & DOT National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program
The U.S. Departments of Transportation and Energy have announced nearly $5 billion that will be made available under the new National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program established by President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, to build out a national electric vehicle charging network, an important step towards making electric vehicle (EV) charging accessible to all Americans. The estimated 5-year total funding is $16,679,459 for the District of Columbia, $62,818,576 for the State of Maryland, and $106,376,132 for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
