May 2022 Edition
A Message from the
Executive Director
On behalf of our Board, staff, and consultants, I would like to thank everyone that attended our events for Green Week 2022. GWRCCC hosted a panel on climate solutions, a Green Drinks Happy Hour, a meeting with the Biden-Harris Administration at the White House Eisenhower Office Building and participated in a community clean up. At GWRCCC, every day is Earth Day!

Antoine Thompson Visits
Blue Bird Corporation
On Thursday, April 14, 2022, I traveled to Middle Georgia and toured the Blue Bird Corporation manufacturing facility along with Macon County Commissioner Carl Oliver, The City of Fort Valley Mayor Jeffery Lundy, Jill Harrison, Council Member of the City of Oglethorpe, and Marsha Ade Gosier of EDF Action! The Bluebirds’ leaders Greg Thompson, Sales Support & Order Control Manager, Andy Moore, Director of Electric Vehicle Operations, and Tim Gordon, Executive Director of North American Sales gave us the full tour of how an electric bus is produced and it was amazing!!

Did you know that the chassis of an electric bus is made in 5 hours and the frame of the bus is painted in 4 minutes!!

We had a great roundtable lunch discussion on the campus of The Fort Valley State University where we discussed the future of alternative fuels, electric vehicles, farming, eco-friendly strategies for rural communities and more!

Marsha’s organization was our lunch sponsor, and she even gave us a tour of the FVSU/Ga Power solar panel farm right outside of town! GWRCCC is also a partner in the Mid-Atlantic Electric School Bus Experience Project (MEEP).
