COVID-19 UPDATES: April 2, 2020
A Message from Angelia Perry, Executive Director
On behalf of the board and staff, it is our hope that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. Regardless of your connection to GYAC, whether you are a donor, volunteer or advocate, we are all in this together, and you are all in our thoughts.

These are trying times, but we must not lose focus on our mission to provide much needed structure and academic support to our student's and their families. We must remain steadfast and resilient, so that we can continue providing these invaluable resources for our community.

Due to the governor's latest stay-at-home mandate, staff will be working from home through May 1. Although our programs and activities are temporarily suspended, we remain committed to the well-being of our students and the community.

Therefore, GYAC is preparing to execute a plan to provide supplemental academic and mental health support to children and families during these difficult times. GYAC's teachers have reached out to the parent's of their students, and soon students will be able to call in and receive assistance with their academic assignments.

We will continue to find ways to assist where we can and adjust our path as needed. For the latest updates regarding COVID-19's impacts on GYAC, visit our website . If you need to reach us for any reason, please don't hesitate to call or email and we will be in touch as soon as possible .

Stay well,

Angelia Perry

We wanted to let our kiddos know that we are missing them. So, our teachers each wrote a special note to their students with words of heartfelt encouragement.

Mrs. Chen's Virtual Classroom
Our Computer Lab teacher, Mrs. Chen created a private Virtual Classroom GYAC students can join to receive help with various computer hardware and software needs, as well as assistance with basic mathematics and pre-algebra.

If students are having an issue with their computer, need to know how to insert a picture into Word or place a video clip on a PowerPoint slide or just want to talk, they can join Mrs. Chen in her Virtual Classroom Monday - Wednesday from 2-3pm.
Homework Assistance Hotline
Our teachers are eager to help their students however they can. Each one has reached out to their students' parent(s) and made themselves available for both academic support and encouragement. We are blessed to have such dedicated staff and teachers, striving to make the most out of this time of uncertainty.
Thank you!
Thank you for sticking with us, for checking in, for following along on social media, for finding ways to help, and most of all, for your continued support of the life-changing work we do at the Gifford Youth Achievement Center. Without you, we would not be here, impacting the lives of countless families and children. Again, our thoughts are with you and we cannot wait to be reunited.
