Gabby Ollivierre at SAIT

Gabby Ollivierre, from Bequia, is now in her second year of the Professional Cooking program at SAIT, the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Sponsored by the Grenadines Initiative, and she's doing extremely well. She's top of her class, and gaining work experience at a local restaurant. When we visited a few weeks ago she was apprenticing at Joey Barlow, voted in a magazine readers poll as one of the best restaurants in the city, as well as working shifts in the Highwood, a fine-dining restaurant on campus that is the feature location of the cooking program.

About SAIT
Established in 1916, SAIT is Calgary's second oldest post-secondary institution and Canada's first publicly funded technical institute. Considered the best in Canada, the Professional Cooking program at SAIT is delivered by world-renowned chefs who provide expert, hands-on training. During the two year-degree program, students to train and interact with 20 leading culinary. When she’s done, Gabby will have gained industry experience in all aspects of the culinary trade including foundational cooking techniques, garde manger, culinary perspectives and patisserie.
