Dear Friend of the World Forestry Center,

As I announced last week, I will be stepping down as Executive Director at the end of May.

The World Forestry Center Board of Directors has asked long-time senior manager Sara Wu to serve as Interim Executive Director starting in June. Sara has been with the Center’s World Forest Institute (WFI) since 1993. She is recognized for her leadership of the Harry A. Merlo International Fellowship Program and the successful Who Will Own the Forest? (WWOTF) international conferences held annually. The board will begin its search for a permanent Executive Director in June.

Through this transition you can expect the strong and competent leadership that Sara has brought to her role for 24 years. The board, led by chair Jennifer Allen, is committed to identifying a leader that can carry forward the good work begun by our founders more than 50 years ago.

Our programs continue to move forward with new international fellows on campus, planning for the WWOTF conference and the second Hagenstein Lectures scheduled for the fall.

We look forward to building a future full of champions of sustainable forestry.

Thanks for your support,
