Gallo Buys Massican & Denner Vineyards
The Last Call for California's Two Most Stunning White Blends
Dear Artisans,

E. & J. Gallo has recently purchased Rombauer, Massican and Denner Vineyards. We can't predict what this means for these producers and their wines, but why wait and see?

The distributors "closed-out" their remaining stock and we pounced quickly securing the last 6 cases of Massican's Annia, and 4 cases of Denner's Theresa.

These are, without question, the two finest white blends made in California, and have been our best-selling client favorites for the past four years.
These are the most unique whites in America that are value-priced for the cult-caliber-quality, and we sincerely hope they stay that way.

They're currently on the list and/or poured by-the-glass at French Laundry, La Toque, Village Pub, Spruce, Meadowood, and many other elites.

This will blow away all wine drinkers but ESPECIALLY those of you that love the finest Old World whites we have shared with you, like Terlano, Livio Felluga, Vie di Romans, Dagueneau, Pietradolce Etna Bianco just to name a few.

We don't know what availability will be like once these last cases are gone but don't wait to find out. Don't delay in securing the best whites that we'll be serving at our Thanksgiving and Holidays ahead!

Cheers,
—James Tran

93 Points - Decanter:
The Annia 2022 combines 41% Ribolla Gialla, 33% Tocai Friulano, and 26% Chardonnay from Napa and Sonoma. It offers an intriguing aromatic panoply of celery root, lavender, jasmine, and lilies of the valley, along with plenty of citrus zest. "Dan Petroski’s perennially delightful blend of 61% Tocai Friulano, 27% Ribolla Gialla and 12% Chardonnay from Hyde Vineyard stands out in its melding of floral, grippy composure and earthy intensity. Lemon candy, peach and white flower combine around ethereal accents of salt and slate."

The 2020 Theresa checks in as a blend of 40% Roussanne, 22% Grenache Blanc, 12% Picpoul, 12% Marsanne, and the rest Clairette Blanche and Vermentino that spent 16 months in 41% new French oak. Clean citrus blossom, honeyed orange, brioche, and a beautiful sense of minerality define the nose, and it's medium-bodied, with a pure, elegant texture, integrated acidity, and a great finish.

Made by Anthony Yount, you can’t go wrong with any of these latest releases from Denner Vineyards. These are pure Paso Robles gold across the board."

2022 Massican Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley

92 Points - Decanter:
This 100% Sauvignon Blanc gives off an immediately fresh fragrance of salty seashells, ocean spray, and dune grasses. Winemaker Dan Petroski's intention to craft an old-world-inspired white meets with California's high sun, which gives suppleness and weight to the white peach, green apple, and pear notes, laced with lemon oil and tart and tangy lime-bright acidity. The wine lasts for minutes, revealing nuances of white flowers, almonds, honeysuckle, and prickly pear—an intense wine with plenty of freshness.

94 Points - Wine Enthusiast (2020 Vintage):
"Made from fruit grown in Pope Valley and Carneros, this is a lifted, elegant and persistently fresh white. It was whole-cluster pressed then barrel fermented with indigenous yeast and aged for six months. A flinty palate presents flavors of wet stone, cucumber and ocean spray."

93 Points - Wine Spectator (2021 Vintage):
"Effusive, intense and mouthwatering, offering yuzu, ruby grapefruit and Fuji apple flavors at the core, with accents of sea salt, lemongrass, vetiver and fresh-grated ginger on the long, expressive finish. Drink now. 1,096 cases made." -MW

Winery Notes:
"Inspired by the Sauvignon wines of northern Italy, our Sauvignon Blanc pays homage to the tart and delicious everyday wine workhorse of the region of Friuli. While it is difficult to recreate these specific Italian wines anywhere else in the world, Sauvignon is our California interpretation of these great Italian white wines. The grapes for this wine are farmed at distinct vineyards in Napa and Sonoma where the temperatures are both the warmest during the day and the coolest at night. That diversity helps us produce a wine of intensity and freshness, and as such we tip-our-Sauvignon-hat to our fellow winemakers in northeast Italy."
