Pediatric Associates Acquiring Karen Baldwin MD, PA and Brandon Pediatrics in Brandon, FL

Pediatric Associates will be acquiring Karen Baldwin, MD, PA, located at 320 Oakfield Drive, Suite E, Brandon, FL 33511, and Brandon Pediatrics (Pushpa Nirmul, MD) located at 602 Venderburg Dr. Suite 101, Brandon, FL 33511, effective October 1, 2013. Both practices will be operating out of the Brandon Pediatrics location temporarily. A facility is currently under construction in the Winthrop area of town. As a result of these acquisitions, Pediatric Associates will expand its presence into the Tampa Bay area and will have a total of 27 locations throughout the state of Florida. Karen Baldwin, M.D., and Pushpa Nirmul, M.D., will join Lisa Wildcatt, MD to care for patients in this office. Dr. Wildcatt will be relocating from our Fort Lauderdale office where she has practiced for the past 3 years.

Peter J. Shulman, MD, MBA, CEO of Pediatric Associates, said, "This is an exciting time for Pediatric Associates and an excellent opportunity to further expand our services to families across Florida. Karen Baldwin MD, PA, and Brandon Pediatrics have proven records of service to the community and we look forward to continuing that service providing expanded access and improving the quality of care in the Tampa Bay marketplace."

Pediatric Associates is Florida's largest privately owned primary care pediatric practice, with 26 locations extending from Tampa Bay to Miami. The practice was founded in Hollywood, FL in 1955.

Broward-Based Memorial Healthcare System Named Most Wired

This year marks the 15th anniversary of Health Care's Most Wired Survey, and Memorial Healthcare System made the 2013 list of "Most Wired Hospitals and Health Systems" as featured in the July edition of Hospitals & Health Networks magazine (H&HN). Since the inception of the Most Wired survey, hospitals and health care systems have made great strides in establishing the basic building blocks for creating robust clinical information systems aimed at improving patient care. This includes adopting technologies to improve patient documentation, advance clinical decision support and evidence-based protocols, reduce the likelihood of medication errors, and rapidly restore access to data in the case of a disaster or outage.

"At Memorial Healthcare System, we strive to integrate all our clinical systems in a way that contributes to clinical effectiveness and patient safety," said Forest Blanton, Chief Information Officer, Memorial Healthcare System.
