University of Miami to Build Major Health Center in Coral Gables

The University of Miami Health System is coming to the university's main campus in Coral Gables in a big way, with groundbreaking planned this summer on a 200,000 square-foot ambulatory care center.


The nonprofit university has been branching out from its medical school campus in Miami's Health District with outpatient centers across South Florida. Physicians from its core specialty facilities, the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, will work in Coral Gables now.

Broward Health Receives Distinguished Healthcare Supply Chain Award    


Broward Health has been awarded the Emergency Care Research Institute (ECRI) Healthcare Supply Chain Award for achieving excellence in overall spend management and adopting best practice solutions into its supply chain processes.


This is the second time that Broward Health has received this distinction, reflecting the healthcare system's dedication to improving quality of care and reducing costs.

Jupiter Medical Center Announces New Clinical Trial  


Jupiter Medical Center's Clinical Research Department opened a new clinical trial, sponsored by OPKO Health, for collection of human bio-specimens for biomarker analysis from patients with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL). The collection involves identification and validation of certain receptors from blood and/or bone marrow from patients with CLL. OPKO Health has developed technology that detects specific antibodies of cancers and other diseases. Through this clinical trial, the development of accurate and reliable blood tests to diagnose cancers could have a profound effect on disease outcome.
