Annual Student Case Competition Held

On Saturday, March 23, the South Florida Healthcare Executive Forum held its annual Student Case Competition at Aventura Medical Center.


This year the case study addressed physician leadership issues and the mentors were all physicians. The competing universities  were Florida International University and Florida Atlantic University (both graduate and undergraduate programs) plus Barry University (graduate program). 

The panel of judges included Joe Rogers, COO of Pediatric Associates, Dr. Ira Agatstein from Larkin Community Hospital and Lorna Kernizan, COO of Aventura Medical Center. 


Actavis (formerly Watson Pharmaceuticals) to Add 220 Jobs in Davie 



Actavis has announced plans to add 220 jobs and expand its pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Davie, after qualifying for $2.81 million in state and local incentives.


The New Jersey-based company (NYSE: ACT), formerly known as Watson Pharmaceuticals, entered Broward County in 2006 when it acquired generic drug maker Andrx.

JMC Names New Medical Director for Women's Health Program

  Jupiter Medical Center 

Susan Brown Poncy, MD, has recently been named Medical Director of the Women's Health Program at Jupiter Medical Center in Palm Beach County. Dr. Poncy is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. John D. Couris is the President and CEO of Jupiter Medical Center.
