Boca Regional Participant in International Project to Customize Therapy for Breast Cancer Patients

Boca Raton Regional Hospital is one of nine international sites exploring the development of an interactive data base that would connect and coordinate the myriad imaging data that are used in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. The intent of this research consortium is to combine imaging information generated by various diagnostic procedures, such as mammography, ultrasound and MRI with pathology into a single software application that allows clinicians to develop and coordinate individual, customized therapies plans in a much more efficient and effective manner.

"This initiative presents the opportunity to open new vistas in the way we approach the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer," said Kathy Schilling, MD, Medical Director of the Christine E. Lynn Women's Health and Wellness Institute at Boca Regional and Principal Investigator for the study.
