Do You Know a Healthcare Game Changer?
Greystone Names Donna-Lee Fabian Executive Director of new Kendall Lakes Health and Rehabilitation Center
Greystone Healthcare Management, an industry-leading healthcare management company, has named Donna-Lee Fabian as Executive Director of the new Kendall Lakes Health and Rehabilitation Center, scheduled to open soon. The new facility, located at 5280 S.W. 157th Avenue in Miami is Greystone's fourth health and rehabilitation center in South Florida and features an array of medical services as well as specialized orthopedic, cardiac and stroke rehabilitation programs.

Fabian has been working in the skilled nursing industry for the past 16 years, and in other aspects of nursing for 15 years before that. She most recently served as the Nursing Home Administrator for Greystone's North Beach Rehabilitation Center, a 5-Star Facility.

"I look forward to providing our community with outstanding quality care in nursing and therapy services in the beautiful, unique and well-planned Kendall Lakes Health and Rehabilitation Center," Fabian said.
Based in Dania Beach, the South Florida Healthcare Executive Forum (SFHEF) serves healthcare professionals in Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties plus the Treasure Coast. The SFHEF is the local chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and currently boasts over 950 members.
Jon Turton, FACHE

A seasoned healthcare professional with more than 25 years of experience leading large hospitals, Jonathan Turton joined Broward Health Medical Center in September 2018 as CEO. In this role, he oversees the overall administration and management of the 716-bed acute care hospital, trauma center and related operations.

Prior to joining Broward Health, Turton held senior positions at the Tenet Health-owned Baptist Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, including COO and most recently Chief Executive Officer. As CEO, he led the 623 licensed-bed acute care hospital to maintain a 13 percent operating margin over three years, driving quality improvement in cardiovascular, nephrology and geriatric service lines. Turton also served as VP of Clinical Services and Vice President of Outpatient Services at St. Joseph Health System in Bryan, Texas.
Transgender Women Have High Rates of HIV: The Question is Why?
"Transgender women in Miami-Dade County have a disproportionately high level of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases compared to other at-risk groups and in other areas in the U.S.," said Dr. Allan Rodriguez, director of Behavioral/Social Science & Community Outreach Core of the Miami Center for AIDS Research. According to statistics from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 6.34 percent of transgender women who are tested for HIV have positive results compared with 1.5 percent for other populations.

A team of University of Miami Miller School of Medicine researchers is studying why transgender women have exceptionally higher rates of acquiring HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. In a first-of-its-kind collaborative project, the LITE Study ( Leading Innovation for Transgender Women's Health and Empowerment) examines behaviors and other factors that may increase disease transmission and poor health outcomes in this diverse, at-risk population.
