Do You Know a Healthcare Game Changer?
Heartwell Chosen For AvMed's 2017 High Performance Network
Practice with nine offices now part of AvMed's prestigious HPN

Miami-Dade based HeartWell LLP announced that its 23-physician cardiology practice has been accepted into the AvMed 2017 High Performance Network (HPN). This decision was based on consistent quality outcomes and cost efficient care provided by HeartWell doctors. HeartWell is the only cardiology team in the HPN that takes hospital call at Baptist Hospital.

According to Jeffrey Kaplan, Chief Operating Officer at HeartWell, this is excellent news for patients and referring physicians. "AvMed Medicare patients who use an HPN specialist provider will have a $5.00 co-payment instead of $40.00, and they will be receiving outstanding care from our integrated team of cardiologists, vascular specialists, lipidologists and electrophysiologists," he said.

Every year, AvMed selects specialties using its quality and/or cost efficiency criteria and methodology. Through this process, AvMed recognizes physicians who consistently meet or exceed its performance criteria and acknowledges the value of all physicians that meet NCQA credentialing standards for network participation.

"HeartWell is committed to providing the best possible patient care and care coordination," added Kaplan. "Inclusion in AvMed's HPN is a testament to our dedication and a benefit to all our patients."
Cleveland Clinic FL Names Palm Beach County Facility

Weston based Cleveland Clinic Florida has named its Palm Beach County facility at CityPlace the Tomsich Health and Medical Center of Palm Beach County, in recognition of the Tomsich family's recent major gift to support the hospital expansion in Weston and longstanding commitment to the organization.

"For more than 20 years my family and I have been proud to support the dedicated caregivers at Cleveland Clinic in their efforts to provide world-class care while advancing medical innovation and education," said Robert Tomsich. "Since they cared for my mother years ago, I know they have always focused on putting patients first. That's why Suzanne and I are passionate about helping provide the tools they need to fulfill their mission here in Florida."

Native Clevelanders and Palm Beach residents, Robert and Suzanne Tomsich are longtime supporters of Cleveland Clinic and Cleveland Clinic Florida through their philanthropic support and Mr. Tomsich's more than 20 years serving on Cleveland Clinic's Board of Trustees.
Nicklaus Children's Becomes First Pediatric Facility in Southeast- and Second in the World- To Use GPS-Like Technology During Cardiac Procedures

Miami based Nicklaus Children's Hospital is the second pediatric facility in the world to use new medical technology in cardiac procedures that is similar to global positioning systems (GPS) that motorists use to determine their vehicles' locations on a map. The new equipment is part of the hospital's new state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization lab, in which minimally invasive catheter-based procedures are performed to treat and evaluate children with congenital heart defects.

The MediGuide Technology allows physicians to see the precise location of specially designed delivery tools and catheters enabled with miniature sensors to navigate within the heart.

Patient Reunited With Surgeons, First Responders

For two years, Jennifer Gray has wished to meet the physicians and first responders who saved her life. On Thursday, members of Broward County based
Memorial Regional Hospital's trauma unit along with first responders from Miami Dade Fire-Rescue and
Miramar Fire-Rescue Department surprised her with a reunion that colleagues at her workplace helped organize.
