We're filling our slate for next year now! If you’re interested in learning about what it means to be a board member, there are opportunities to join the NCJW board as a member at large, without holding a specific portfolio. Help Make Abortion Comfort Kits!
Tuesday, March 5, 6 pm, AJCC
| |
|
Help us do a mitzvah (a good deed) for the women having to come from other states to get the healthcare they need and deserve, and it will feel so good!
Join us at the Alpert JCC Auditorium as we prepare the next round of Abortion Comfort Kits -- around 300! -- for Planned Parenthood and Family Planning Associates clinics. We’ll also hear our own Sherri Sobel (our favorite Juvenile Court Referee) tell her personal abortion story as part of our Courageous Conversations. Don’t miss it!
We also still need toys for the on-site Treasure Chests!
Come enjoy some snacks and great camaraderie, too! We will once again write and collect notes of encouragement to place in the kits. We welcome one and all!
RSVP HERE or email communityservice@ncjwlongbeach.org.

Volunteers and Donations Needed for
Shining a Light: a Long Beach Summit on Antisemitism and Hate
Tuesday, April 2, Cal State University Long Beach
| |
|
Our Section has joined ADL Orange County/Long Beach, Jewish Long Beach, CCEJ (California Conference for Equality and Justice) and CSULB to present an all-day conference at California State University Long Beach.
Shining A Light is a one-day, immersive learning experience for about 200 leaders across all sectors of the greater Long Beach community. Its purpose is to
--educate the community about the history of antisemitism and its current and complex manifestations;
--explore ways to educate Long Beach citizens about these issues and develop strategies to combat anti-Jewish and other forms of hate; and
--engage with stakeholders to leverage our collective resources to foster lasting partnerships and collaborations.
You can support the conference in two ways!
By volunteering to
--work on registration,
--introduce speakers, or
--summarize sessions that can lead to future collaborations, a key part of the goals of the conference.
To volunteer, email advocacy@ncjwlongbeach.org.
By donating:
Our Section has committed to support the conference with $1,500, and we need your help to meet that goal. Donate to NCJW - GLB & WOC’s Addressing Antisemitism/Hate Advocacy Fund HERE; be sure to select the fund name.
This event is made possible by a grant from Jewish Long Beach and by contributions and planning from NCJW - Greater Long Beach & W. Orange County, ADL, CSULB, & CCEJ.
