GapBuster, Inc. 22nd Anniversary Highlights

The keynote speaker, Hon. Hajia Alima Mahama, First Female Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to the United States of America was amazing. Her passion for gender equality and the protection of children was evident throughout her career, especially in her contribution to the passage of Ghana’s Domestic Violence Act and the Human Trafficking Act, as well as ratification of related conventions at the level of the African Union and the United Nations. She was also influential in changes in Ghana’s National Health Insurance Law to improve maternal health, among other issues. Her speech that evening was aligned with our mission to serve.

Isaac Antwi GapBuster, Inc. welcomed our Ghana country director, Mr. Antwi to the event. He highlighted the activities that have been ongoing and completed by GapBuster in Ghana as well as brought greetings from the children in the Motherland. GapBuster's couldn't do the work in Ghana without him.

On behalf of the GapBuster's Board of Directors, we want to thank ALL our guest our Alumnus and parents for coming out to support GapBuster for our first event since the pandemic. We want to thank our performers, alumni Jacques Sangwa and Nylea McGraw-Johnson. Additionally, we want to send a special thanks to Prince George’s County Council Jonathan Medlock, State Senator William C. Smith, Jr., Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, and U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen’s aide Austin Morris joining our celebration. Senator Smith’s daughter was a real joy to have in the room, particularly since GapBuster is a youth centered organization. Milton "DJ TAZ" and the 360 photo booth made the night.

CONGRATULATIONS to Yvette Butler-Yeboah, MD. This week she received the most prestigious awards from President Joseph Biden, Jr. - Lifetime Achievement Award from The White House during the CBC. This award is awarded to few Americans to recognize over 4,000 hours of extraordinary service. She is so HONORED to be a community servant and gives God the glory and praise for allowing her to serve. Plus, she thanks her husband, Ekourba, for joining her on this journey and bringing her back to our motherland - Africa.
