Message from the Development Office

| | We want to thank everyone who made the 2024 Garces Gala, "The Magic of Garces" such a special night on our campus. The Gala Committee worked tirelessly to make the night one to remember for all our guests. It was full of magical moments - like ringing the bell and a glass of champagne appearing or reading the prayer written by Garces student Marie Zaninovich, all together, with one voice. There are so many people to thank - the committee volunteers and their families, the event volunteers, the event sponsors, the Tobias Family and JoRonCo Rentals for the beautiful transformation of MLH, Lisa Borda and her team at Bord a'Petite Catering, Sunview Vineyards, Gabe Garzaro at The Social Vibe, the live auction item donors, the silent auction item donors, Mike Miller at Cocktail Concierge, Mark Napier & Tracy Lince at Knight's Site Services, LitLetter Co., Hilary Cauzza and Matt Reynolds of Reynolds Photography for the photos and video. Thank you to our ASB students and Mrs. Thompson for all their help at the event's beginning and to Mrs. Rossi and the FFA Floral Design Class for the beautiful centerpieces. Thank you to Mr. Geissel and Mrs. Cook for their help with our auction items. And a big thank you to our homeroom teachers and students who participated in the Student Procurement Contest. And we want to especially thank our fabulous auctioneer, Mr. Paul Pavletich. He generously donated his time and talents and made our live auction a huge success! Thanks to his efforts we raised $146,650 during the live auction alone! A heartfelt thank you to our angel donors who made the night so magical by adding special touches everywhere! We are so grateful for the support of so many who love our school and our students.
Now for the news everyone is waiting for – how did Gala do?

Latina Leaders
On February 17, junior Sophie Castellanos and sophomore Gabi Hernandez, members of the Latina Leaders of Kern County, were able to go on a field trip of a lifetime. Nestled in the majestic Tehachapi Mountains, these two immersed themselves in an enriching experience of history at the breathtaking César E. Chávez National Monument. They went on a guided tour through the museum, guided by Andres Chávez, grandson of renowned labor activist César Chávez. Walking through various exhibits, many selfies and stops at the gift shop were taken. From then, they went to the outdoor memorial rose garden, where both César Chávez, and his wife Helen Chávez, were laid to rest. In a moment of true inspiration, Andres Chávez delivered a powerful speech, highlighting on the remarkable achievements of his grandparent's and how we too can use our gifts to contribute to the greater good.
Many lessons were learned. Starting from humble beginnings, farm workers championed for their rights and all the way to the present day. It's evident everyone deserves equality and fair treatment. It is only through the individual that change can be made for the better! Latina Leaders of Garces is preparing for some fun spring events including the Quinciñera Fashion Show on April 26.

Jenysa is a former Ram and was happy to donate some of her extra time to share her knowledge of speech pathology with our current Rams.
