Dual Enrollment Workshop
All students currently taking dual enrollment classes are required to attend an important Dual Enrollment Workshop on Wednesday, November 13, at 1:45 pm in MLH.
During this workshop, students will receive guidance and assistance with the enrollment process for Spring classes at Bakersfield College. This is a valuable opportunity for students to ensure they are registered for their upcoming classes.
College Advising Meetings for Juniors and Parents
Our counselors are excited to begin college advising meetings with juniors and their parents! These individual meetings are an essential part of the college planning process. Counselors will review each student’s transcript, assist with Naviance, help build a college list, go over admissions requirements, discuss college essays, and provide financial aid information.
To schedule a meeting, please email your student’s counselor:
- For last names A-L, contact Mrs. Fernandez at zfernandez@garces.org
- For last names M-Z, contact Mrs. Howlett at chowlett@garces.org
We look forward to supporting each junior on their college journey!

Halloween spirit was alive at Garces! Link Crew hosted a fun-filled Freshmen Halloween Movie Night on Tuesday, and campus was buzzing with a school-wide costume contest and the ever-popular Door Wars.
Congratulations to Mrs. McCaffery’s homeroom for winning first place with their creatively spooky, math-themed Halloween door! | The Art Club shined at the 26th annual Via Arte Italian Street Painting Festival. | Latina Leaders had a wonderful time with St. Francis 8th graders, sharing our vibrant Spanish programs and presenting Apolonia Picazo as a beautiful Catrina, symbolizing the rich cultural heritage of Día de los Muertos. Meanwhile, BSU captivated everyone with their annual All Hallow's Eve event—always a crowd favorite!

PLTW
Garces Project Lead the Way students created a Halloween Hallway for OLPH to trick or treat through again this year. The second-year class, Principles of Engineering, creates a design charrette and assigns stakeholder positions to each team. They must create a proposal for their area, and sketches to illustrate their vision. Then they do a cost analysis of the build, and finally create a Gantt chart or timeline to show what will be built and when. They journal each class and make a record of their work. It builds many real-world skills into an exciting design for ALL to see.
A Huge Garces thank you to all of the families who donated items and funds to help us this year. We couldn't do it without you continued support.

FFA UPDATE
From Sophia Camou, Garces FFA President
| |
|
This year Garces Memorial took their very first group to the 97th National Convention. We went to conference sessions where award winners were recognized and saw our American Degree recipients walk across the national stage. We are so proud of Claire Banducci, Gabriella Camou, and Reese Turman for obtaining this degree. We spoke with FFA members from every state and many different industry professionals. We went to the Indianapolis Zoo, Churchill Downs, Notre Dame, Louisville Slugger, and Reproductive Specialty Group. The attendees and I had an amazing time and highly recommend this experience to all FFA members.
We are so incredibly grateful for Mrs. Rossi for organizing this amazing trip and want to shoutout Fr. David for attending as a chaperone.

Sophomore Retreat
The Sophomore Retreats, held October 28th to 30th, 2024, were a resounding success for our students. This transformative experience allowed boys and girls to explore authentic masculinity and femininity within their faith.
Students were empowered through brotherhood and sisterhood as they worshipped Jesus, received the sacraments, and engaged in fellowship.
The retreat's focus on authentic gender identity, rooted in Catholic teachings, helped students deepen their relationship with Christ and each other. As they returned, the sophomores carried a renewed sense of purpose and strengthened faith, ready to face life's challenges with grace and confidence.

Sports Broadcasting
Tonight's home football game against Bakersfield Christian High School on November 1st will be live streamed to fan.hudl.com. With the action coming straight to your home or office, why not add the fun enthusiasm of students commentating the game.
We are currently able to broadcast football and soccer with live commentary, and Volleyball and Basketball will be livestreamed with no commentary. We hope that this year is successful, and an audience is met so that we can extend our program to cover more Garces sports.
