Happy September!

We’re beginning to see a leaf or two turning red, a gentle hint of the beautiful display of fall foliage to come. I’m already looking forward to watching the vibrant colors!

Each season brings its own kind of magic, with ever-changing colors, reflections and beautiful skies. There’s always something new to appreciate and be inspired by!

This is a piece I made long ago that inspired my logo above!

Linda worked so hard on these bricks and even threw in a whimsical bug (zoom in to find it).

And voilà!! What a beautiful addition to the birdbath in her yard!

People are always asking me what I'm working on. Here are a couple of the small pieces I've finished recently.

I made this piece for my kitchen. I had a little corner that was just asking for a pop of color!

Someone generously donated this adorable crockery, and I knew it would be perfect for creating something playful and colorful. The teapot itself is about 4 inches wide and 3 inches tall, while the entire piece measures 20" x 8".

I love how giving these discarded pieces of crockery a new life can transform an ordinary corner into something special.

I also made this Hamsa recently. The hand is a beautiful symbol of protection and is embraced across many cultures and religions.

I don’t typically paint the bases of my pieces, but I decided to give it a try with this one, since the Hamsa itself is so detailed.

Studio Recycling Requests ♻️

1. If you have rectangular plastic containers left over from your groceries, would you consider saving them for me? I’m specifically looking for ones commonly used for prepackaged lettuce and salads. I don't need the lids.

I use them for storing and sorting glass, organizing supplies, and about a million other things. You’d be amazed at how useful they are.

2.  In addition, I’m also always looking for ½- to ¾-inch plywood that I can cut down and use as bases for mosaic art. If you have any leftover pieces from a project or some sitting around that you no longer need, please let me know.

3.  As previously mentioned in this newsletter, old wooden windows, 36"x30" or less, single or multiple panes are great and can get a second life in my Windows class.

Thank you in advance for helping me keep useful materials

out of the waste stream and for helping to stock my studio!

Windows Classes!

Only one more windows class this season on Sept 16 and I have openings, so join us!

Previous art experience is not necessary!

Previous art experience is not necessary!

Marcia used old jewelry and lots of materials from the studio to create these wonderful pieces.

Some people make large windows in this class, but if you don’t have the space or want to start small, many also make picture frame sized pieces like Marcia.

Suncatcher Class!

My last suncatcher class this season is Oct 1, 1-4:00.

*****

Students make three suncatchers in this 3-hour class.

If you have old jewelry (even

broken jewelry!), or pieces from loved ones, this is a great way to use them.

If you don't have any pieces

at home, come and use what I have at the studio!

The reason the suncatcher and windows classes only run

through September/October is that the windows need to stay open for good ventilation.

Weekly Classes

Tuesdays (full) and Thursdays!

10-12:30

Susan made this spinner, a double-sided piece for the garden.

Attaching them to a shepherd’s hook garden stake works well. So whimsical and fun!

Beautiful work Karen!

Joan spent a couple multiple sessions on this piece and it was totally worth it!

Zoom in to see all the detail!

Robin and Brett just started mosaics and these are their first pieces.

Nice job Carol!

Create Mosaic Succulents

Oct 24 and 25

(full, but let me know if you want to be on the wait list)

In this day and a half class we learn to make nine succulents: three out of pottery/china, one out of rocks, and five out of putty.

You will never look at broken crockery the same way again!

*****

Mary not only created this woodland piece and made the mushrooms out of epoxy putty, but she painted the picture of the mice too.

If you zoom into the area on the center/left side of the piece, you can see her painting of the mice.

So well done!
