The Board of Directors and members of Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce welcomes Claudette J. Baldemor as its new President and CEO.
After eight years, the past CEO of the Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce, Cindy Spindle, has retired. It does not go unnoticed the tremendous impact she has had on the business community and the City of Garden Grove, as well as the major improvements she has made to the organization.
Trying to find an individual to hire as the new CEO has been a major feat for the Chamber. They had over 50 applicants from all over the country show interest in the CEO position. With such a sought-after position, it was no easy task for the hiring committee to make a final selection. After an extensive process, the hiring committee put together a prudent approach to finalize the interview selection. Baldemor takes on a position that requires "hard work, dedication, and a can-do attitude. We know Claudette will lead the Chamber in the right direction," says current Board Chairman, Jon Glant.
Born in Quezon City, Philippines, Baldemor moved to the United States at age ten. Baldemor has been in the hospitality industry for over 20 years. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, she had a 15-year long career with the Long Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau. In her last role as Membership Director, Baldemor managed member services, sales and retention, programs, promotions, communications, and members benefits. Former clients know her as an advocate for businesses. She has shown excellent adeptness in several leadership positions—as a volunteer, a board member, an event planner, and community organizer.
Baldemor currently serves as the Vice Chair and COO for Jars Ministries, a faith-based nonprofit organization founded by her father, Rev. Dr. Oscar Baldemor. She was the Managing Director twice for “Miles for Meds,” a 5/10K fundraising run for medical and dental missions at Shoreline Village in Long Beach.
Baldemor sits on the Board of Directors of the Conservation Corps of Long Beach, an organization assisting with development of at-risk youth through work, service, conservation, and education. She is also a founding Board Member as well as Vice Chair of Asian Pacific Islander Americans (APIA) Professional Network, and a founding committee member of the Long Beach Parol Lantern Festival. Other Long Beach organizations she has been involved with include WomenShelter, Musica Angelica, and Ronald McDonald House. She worked on events such as the Mayor’s Inaugural and 100 Days in Office and she played a key role in coordinating the City’s Official Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration. Bringing with her an immense understanding of a community’s complexities and opportunities, Ms. Baldemor is looking forward to applying her business knowledge and experience in helping stimulate the vitality and economic development of local businesses in Garden Grove.
Outside of her work life, she enjoys spending time with her family, watching Marvel movies with her nieces and nephews, and being a fur mama to two yellow Labradors, Jasper and Onyx.
