A Park in the City
"In the heart of Brockton, Massachusetts, D.W. Field Park remains as a gentle solace to the residents of Brockton and all those who enter it's gates.
The Park covers 700+ acre's, with 7+ miles of paved roadway, that encompass the park."

Historical Tidbit:
Sky View Drive-In Theater
Off Route 28 Brockton, MA
The theater itself has since been demolished, but the sign still marks the entrance.
Many Broctonians remember the playground in front of the screen. Parents bringing carloads of children to the drive in in the 60's and 70's. to watch the movies and play on a Friday or Saturday night. Others remember being a teenager and "sneaking around back."
The landmark sign holds the place in our hearts.

Mutual Aid Brockton is an effort of the Brockton Interfaith Community.

The Brockton Interfaith CommunityTeam met last year to discuss priorities for 2021 which resulted in categorizing our work into the following four areas of focus:
1. Racial Justice through systemic change work (supporting immigrants, challenging racism in all forms)
2. Economic Justice via Co-op development
3. Education (SOPA trainings, Voting Mobilization, Housing Rights, Immigration Forums)
4. Community Building (classes, Mutual Aid Teams, Gardening, Health and Wellness, etc).
We intend to approach these initiatives through the following Pathways that will consist of:
1. Building and democratizing a communal economy
2. Democratize and reform the public arena
3. Dismantle White Supremacy
4. Democratize and reimagine health and wellness.
5. Train and liberate Leaders

Gardening Rejuvenates
"In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt." ~ Margaret Atwood

"The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just on the body, but the soul."
~ Alfred Austin

"A garden is a grand teacher. It teaches patience and careful watchfulness; it teaches industry and thrift; above all it teaches entire trust."
~ Gertrude Jekyll

"Behold, my friends, the spring is come; the earth has gladly received the embraces of the sun, and we shall soon see the results of their love!"
~ Sitting Bull
I smell and feel the dirt.
I perceive an empty natural canvas to fill in, bits of color and life poking through.
The sun and the wind shock my skin, too many days have been spent inside.
It's time.
I am ready.
~ Jacquie
