Engineering Club's "ChaBOAT" at the SMUD Solar Regatta
Photos & story by: Tess Weathers
The Engineering Club spent the semester designing and building a solar-powered boat for the 2023 Sacramento Metropolitan Utilities District Solar Regatta, which was held in early May. The students' design focus was on sustainability: the boat was created with reused and repurposed materials. During the event, the team displayed exceptional on-the-spot problem solving with efficiency and grace.
Not only did the students practice technical hands-on engineering and design skills to complete this project, but they also had new life-experiences, learned invaluable teamwork lessons, and expanded their personal network.
Visit the Science and Math webpage for more information about Chabot Engineering.
