Earth Day Celebration Saturday, April 23
Join Go Green Garland for a FREE drive-thru Earth Day celebration event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 23, in the parking lot behind the Granville Arts Center, 300 N. Fifth St.

Enjoy electronics and battery recycling, paper shredding, cardboard recycling and more! Proof of Garland residency, such as a utility bill, is required.

Team Downtown Information Session Saturday, April 23
Team Downtown is a new volunteer ambassador program in Downtown Garland. Team Downtown volunteers offer concierge services, directional help to businesses and general expertise about Downtown.

Come learn about Downtown revitalization and how you can get involved!

This informational session will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 23, at City Hall, 200 N. Fifth St. Snacks and coffee will be provided.

Solar-Powered Paper Houses at the Library Saturday, April 30
Students grades 4-8 can learn about alternative energy sources by constructing a solar-powered paper house at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Walnut Creek Branch Library, 3319 Edgewood Drive.

The event is free, but registration is required and limited to 20 participants. Call 972-205-2585 or register online.
Construction Work Continues at Forest Lane and Shiloh Road

The City is replacing the concrete pavement on both sides of the Dallas, Garland & Northeastern Railroad, Inc. railroad crossing on Forest Lane just east of South Shiloh Road.

Various lanes will be closed throughout the repair. The construction should be completed by late May, weather permitting.

Please expect traffic delays and seek alternate travel routes to avoid this work zone. If you have questions, email Street@GarlandTX.gov. 
COVID-19 Vaccines, Boosters Available at Garland's Public Health Clinic

You can get the COVID-19 vaccine or booster without an appointment at our Public Health Clinic, 206 Carver St., between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Public Health Clinic is providing initial doses for adults and children, as well as booster doses of Moderna, Pfizer and Janssen vaccines based on CDC guidance. Individuals 50 and older are now eligible for a second booster dose.

The Public Health Clinic is a vaccine site, not a testing site. Every home in the U.S. can now order four free at-⁠home COVID-⁠19 tests at covidtests.gov.

The Garland City Council Work Session will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, April 18. Regular Meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, at City Hall, 200 N. Fifth St.

DART Service Changes
April 18
Effective Monday, April 18, DART will implement a series of minor modifications to the New Bus Network that launched in January. For full details, visit DART.org/servicechange.

District 6 Town Hall

Join Council Member Robert Vera for a District 6 Town Hall at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at the Hollabaugh Recreation Center, 3925 W. Walnut St. Topics of discussion will include the new library and Hollabaugh improvements, in addition to an update from the Garland Street Department. Early voting for the May 7 general election begins Monday, April 25, and ends Tuesday, May 3. Early voting locations and other information will be listed by the Dallas County Elections Department.
