City Election - Early Voting Begins 
Early voting for the May 4 City Election begins April 22 and ends April 30. Voters will elect a mayor and City Council representatives for Districts 3, 6, 7 and 8. Voters also will consider eight bond propositions. Details about the bond propositions are available on the 2019 Bond Program web page.
Early voting in Garland takes place at the Richland College Garland Campus, 675 W. Walnut St., and the South Garland Branch Library, 4845 Broadway Blvd.
Polls will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 22-27, 1 to 6 p.m. April 28 and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 29-30 and May 4. For additional information, visit the Elections page at GarlandTX.gov or DallasCountyVotes.org.

Garland Civic Theatre Presents Nunsense April 25-May 12
Sister Julia, the cook of the Little Sisters of Hoboken, accidentally poisoned 52 of her fellow sisters. How will she raise money for all the burials? Put on a musical!

Wheels of Hope Car Show
The annual Wheels of Hope Car Show will roll into Downtown Garland from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 27. Admission is free for spectators and $25 for vehicle entries.

School Crossing Guards Needed
Do you want to earn extra income working only two hours per day and making a difference in your community?
The City of Garland Transportation Department is recruiting candidates interested in the flexibility of working part-time as a school crossing guard, keeping students and neighbors safe as they walk to and from school. The hours are from 7 to 8 a.m. and 3 to 4 p.m. on school days at designated crosswalks.

Apply to Serve on North Texas Municipal Water District Board
The City Council is accepting applications for a Garland representative to the Board of Directors of the North Texas Municipal Water District. The term starts June 1 and runs through May 31, 2021. To qualify for the position, an applicant must reside in Garland and own taxable property. Applications will be accepted through May 3 and should include a letter of interest and a r ésum é. Submit applications to Ren é Dowl, City Secretary, by email to RDowl@GarlandTX.gov or by U.S. Postal Service to City Hall, 200 N. Fifth St., Garland 75040.

Garland Youth Council Accepting Applications Through June 9
Interested Garland residents who will be in grades 9-12 during the 2019-20 school year are eligible to apply to serve on the Garland Youth Council.  Learn more and download an application at  GarlandYouthCouncil.org .
