City Holiday Hours and Services: Monday, Jan. 20
All City of Garland offices, utility customer service and tax offices, libraries, will be closed on Monday, Jan. 20, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The recycling center, transfer station and C.M. Hinton Jr. Regional Landfill will also be closed Jan. 20. Firewheel Golf Park will remain open.

There will be no disruption in trash or recycling collection.

The open house with City departments will begin at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, at The Atrium at the Granville Arts Center, 300 N. Fifth St. The Mayor's address will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The Wall That Heals Is Coming to Garland Feb. 27 - March 1
The Wall That Heals , a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial along with a mobile Education Center, is coming to Garland Thursday, Feb. 27, through Sunday, March 1. 

The Wall That Heals honors the more than 3 million Americans who served in the U.S. armed forces in the Vietnam War and it bears the names of the 58,276 American men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam. The exhibit will be on display at Audubon Park, 342 W. Oates Road, and will be open 24 hours a day, free to the public.

More than 100 volunteers will be needed to set up and take down the replica wall, staff the exhibit and guide visitors 24 hours a day. To learn more about how you can help the effort, email  Albert Montero  or sign up online .
New Municipal Judges Sworn In
Two new Garland Municipal Court justices took the oath of office Tuesday, Jan. 14, at City Hall. 

The ceremony for Associate Judge Natalie Banuelos and Presiding Judge John Sholden was a formal welcome by the Garland City Council that conducted interviews and made their appointments. 
The Honorable David J. Schenck, Fifth District Court of Appeals Justice, swore in both judges.

The Municipal Court, 1791 W. Avenue B, serves as the City's judicial branch of government as well as a part of the state judicial system. Learn more about the judges at GarlandTX.gov.
Register Now for the Annual Sweetheart Dance
This year's Sweetheart Dance is set for Saturday, Feb. 1, at The Atrium at the Granville Arts Center, 300 N. Fifth St.

Dads, granddads and uncles, experience a magical evening with your little sweetheart. The evening includes dinner, dancing, a professional 5x7 photo, and a special gift for each little girl. Girls ages 3 to 7 take the dance floor from 5 to 7 p.m. and ages 8 to 15 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $18 per person and must be purchased at any Garland recreation center. Space is limited!

District 2 Discussion: New Year's Eve Noise

District 3 Town Hall
Feb. 20

City Begins Issuing Warnings for Neighborhood Parking Violations
Neighborhood parking problems are the most frequent source of resident complaints to the City.  The City Marshal's Office will begin issuing tickets in February.
