COVID-19 Testing Site Opens in Garland
|
The Centers for Disease Control in coordination with the Department of Health and Human Services has opened a drive-thru COVID-19 testing location at Johnson Stadium, 1029 E. Centerville Road.
The site offers only the PCR test, not the rapid test. It is anticipated that test results will be ready within 24 to 36 hours. The site is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Play and Learn at the Library
|
Creative play allows children to build cognitive, physical and social skills. Playtime is important for children and parents to enjoy together so that parents can play a role in the development of their child’s cognitive and social abilities.
Every Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to noon, the Children’s Librarian will set up the Program Room at the North Garland Branch Library, 3845 N. Garland Ave., with multiple activities that range from simple pretend play to STEAM activities. Board games will be available for families with older children.

COVID-19 Vaccines, Boosters Available at Garland's Public Health Clinic
You can get the COVID-19 vaccine without an appointment at our Public Health Clinic, 206 Carver St., between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Public Health Clinic is providing initial doses for adults and children, as well as booster doses of Moderna, Pfizer and Janssen vaccines based on CDC guidance.

Flu Shots Available at Garland's Public Health Clinic
Flu shots are available at the Garland Public Health Clinic, 206 Carver St., from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays for adults, children and seniors who are insured. Low-cost flu vaccines for uninsured children and adults are also available.

The Garland Plan Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, at City Hall, 200 N. Fifth St.

DART Bus Route Changes
Jan. 24
Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s redesigned bus network goes into effect Monday, Jan. 24. Bus schedules for the new bus network are available at DART.org/newbus.
Last Day to File for a Place on the May 7 Ballot
Feb. 18
Friday, Feb. 18, is the last day candidates may file for a place on the May 7 City of Garland General Election for City Council Districts 1, 2, 4 and 5. A candidate package is available on the City Secretary’s webpage under "Elections." Learn more at GarlandTX.gov.

COVID-19 Updates
As of Monday, Jan. 17, the Garland Health Department has received reports of 7,273 active cases out of 49,844 confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Garland residents since the beginning of the pandemic, as well as 652 deaths. The City updates its posted case numbers each Monday.
